<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The position of nursing instructor (lecturer) is actively engaged in course delivery and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, grading, course creation, proctoring, test review, and evaluation of assigned courses. The Nursing Faculty evaluates the performance of students and mentors students with a focus on student retention and RN licensure. This position reports to the ADN program director.</p> <p>Major Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching on the Associate degree program as assigned. </li><li>Participate in student accommodation process pursuant to College policy and timely implementation of any accommodation(s) and/or notify of any issues or concerns surrounding a student accommodation(s). </li><li>Referring students to appropriate resources for remedial academic and other support services, including academic coaching, Uwill, and Accessibility Services. </li><li>Reporting student engagement issues in a timely manner via SEA (on MyMaria). </li><li>Scheduling a minimum of four (4) weekly office hours so students have access to support outside of class. </li><li>Following the accepted course syllabus format for all courses and providing students on the first day of classes of the semester a course syllabus so they are informed of all policies for attendance, make-up work, and other specific requirements of the course. </li><li>Participating in Open House and other recruitment events to promote programs at Maria College. </li><li>Participating in college and department committee work which is focused on formulating academic and administrative policies and in constructive evaluation of the total educational program. A Calendar of Committee Meetings is provided at the beginning of the academic year. Faculty members shall serve on at least one committee. </li><li>Engaging in professional development activities such as membership in associations and attendance at conferences. The faculty members should maintain a contemporary knowledge of their respective fields and be aware of new developments in the field of education. </li><li>Are required to post their office hours no later than the first week of the semester. </li><li>Abiding by the Faculty Code of Conduct (see Section VI of this Handbook) </li><li>Participating in all phases of academic advisement when requested to do so by the College. Instructors should be available for individual student advisement and should make students aware of this availability. </li><li>Submitting to the Registrar's Office deficiency notifications, midterm grades, semester census reports, and final grades according to deadlines. </li><li>Submitting course syllabi, self-evaluation reports, and copies of final exams to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. </li><li>Engaging in scholarship. (See Policy of Scholarship) </li><li>Demonstrate empathy and respect for students. </li><li>Role model the mission of the College in practice settings </li><li>Create a culture that encourages student expression of ideas. </li><li>Provide remediation to students. </li><li>Participate in meetings at the College as scheduled. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>A caring, student-centric approach to teaching and evaluating students. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and time management skills. Genuine interest and a commitment to advancing collaboration and teamwork. </li><li>Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills to interface with all College departments as well as external partners. </li><li>Must be highly organized and flexible to adapt to changing priorities and must be able to produce exceptional products under tight deadlines. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and diverse faculty, staff, and student body. </li><li>Demonstrate empathy and respect for students. </li><li>Role model the mission of the College in practice settings </li><li>Create a culture that encourages student expression of ideas. </li></ul> <p>Technology Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with BlackBoard LMS and Student Information Systems. </li><li>Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as software applications relevant to area of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in nursing.
