KIPP NYC currently serves more than 12,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (8% of whom are alumni), and continues to grow!</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>Speech and Language Therapists (SALTs) work on a team of speech-language pathologists who will share responsibilities for supporting all KIPP NYC schools based on the needs of their respective students. The Speech and Language Therapist will provide preventative and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. The SALT's work will have a heavy emphasis on working with non-mandated students identified through screening as having a speech or language delay that impacts academics as part of a Response to Intervention model.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide speech-language therapy according to student needs to meet IEP mandates in individual, group, and push-in sessions</p> </li><li> <p>Flexible and creatively implement therapeutic services using evidence-based practices</p> </li><li> <p>Address the needs of students beginning to struggle through a Response to an Intervention model</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 3 groups of Kindergarten RtI focusing on phonological awareness (4-6 students each)</p> </li><li> <p>Provide RtI support to 1st-grade students through differentiation of material and small group interventions</p> </li><li> <p>Individual or group sessions RtI support at Middle School (equivalent to 1/2 day of service per week)</p> </li><li> <p>Individual/group sessions for articulation and fluency (any grade level)</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct speech and language screenings of all kindergarten students</p> </li><li> <p>Offer support to our students of all age ranges and from heterogeneous and various linguistic backgrounds</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in and lead professional development with general education teachers, learning specialists, administrators, and your fellow KIPP NYC speech-language therapists</p> </li><li> <p>Coach contracted speech-language pathologists in their work with students receiving IEP-mandated speech-language therapy. Collaborate with contracted therapists through weekly check-ins and quarterly observations/coaching.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide consultation for fellow speech-language therapists on the KIPP NYC team and attend regional SALT meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Provide professional development or consultation services for classroom teachers</p> </li><li> <p>Write annual IEP reports: student's present level of performance, goals, and recommendations</p> </li><li> <p>Provide speech and language interim and/or baseline assessments</p> </li><li> <p>Opportunity to supervise graduate student interns</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate student progress and carry-over techniques to parents and families</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in Child Study Teams</p> </li><li> <p>Function as an integrated member of the KIPP school community</p> </li><li> <p>Support with general school operations including:</p> </li><li> <p>Arrival, lunch, recess, and late student support</p> </li><li> <p>Update bulletin boards/student work monthly</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a clean and organized environment</p> </li><li> <p>Attend/participate in report card nights</p> </li><li> <p>Attend/participate in all staff events</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.</p> </li><li> <p>At least two years of direct experience with K-8 students is strongly preferred</p> </li><li> <p>New York State certification in the appropriate area</p> </li><li> <p>A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture</p> </li><li> <p>A strong desire to become a better practitioner by joining the KIPP NYC team and family</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within our KIPP NYC communities</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Compensation and Benefits:</p> <p>KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 - $142,270. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function.
