<p>Essential Tasks:</p> <p>Coordinates and manages inspection activities associated with the construction of new subdivisions and commercial development in Richland County.</p> <p>Supervises the work of subordinate technicians; supervisory duties include instructing, planning and assigning work, reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and recommending employee discipline as appropriate. Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for Improvement; offers training, advice and assistance as needed.</p> <p>Supervises and participates in the inspection of road, grading and drainage construction and sediment and erosion control activities.</p> <p>Reviews and evaluates geotechnical and materials testing reports pertaining to road and drainage construction.</p> <p>Manages and maintains plans and records for ongoing construction. Maintains and updates inspection program database.</p> <p>Receives and responds to public inquiries, requests for service and complaints in areas of responsibility; investigates and remediates stormwater and sediment/ erosion control complaints associated with new developments; enforces codes related to sediment and erosion control and stormwater violations.</p> <p>Coordinates inspections and enforcement activities with design engineers, developers, contractors and property owners as necessary.</p> <p>Produces and maintains correspondence and records related to construction Inspection.</p> <p>Recommends and Implements procedures and standards for the inspection of streets, storm drainage and erosion control in new developments.</p> <p>Performs general administrative and clerical work as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, preparing spreadsheets, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes. answering the telephone, etc.</p> <p>Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.</p> <p>Oversees compliance of new construction in adherence to federal Clean Water Act.</p> <p>VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PREPARATION:</p> <p>Requires Associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field.</p> <p>SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:</p> <p>Must possess a valid state driver's license.</p> <p>Must possess or be able to obtain DHEC Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector certification and Department of Transportation Road Inspector certification.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Requires four or more years of related job experience.</p>
