<p>SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Junior-Senior High School Administration</p> <p>PAY TYPE: Contract, Non-Supervisory</p> <p>PAY RATE: Based upon the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)</p> <p>BENEFITS: Eligible (see attachment)</p> <p>SCHEDULE: 183 Days; Follows school calendar</p> <p>This position will remain posted until filled. All qualified and interested applicants are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities </li><li>Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives </li><li>Functions as IEP manager to assigned students </li><li>Delivers research-based instruction to meet IEP goals </li><li>Assesses student progress and adjusts instruction as needed </li><li>Uses diverse teaching methods to support IEP objective. </li><li>Develops and implements IEPs, including goals and services </li><li>Follows procedural requirements and coordinates IEP services </li><li>Acts as primary contact for parents and schedules meetings </li><li>Guides paraprofessional staff and provides instructional oversight </li><li>Collaborates with educators and community service providers </li><li>Advises teachers on adaptations, modifications, and interventions for students with disabilities </li><li>Offers expertise to staff and the community in instructional matters </li><li>Attends training, conferences, and meetings to stay current on trends and technologies </li></ul> <p>JOB SPECIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education, Training, and Experience Required: </li><li>Bachelor's Degree (minimum) </li><li>Valid Indiana Teacher's License in Special Education </li><li>Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor </li><li>Experience working in a school environment preferred </li><li>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics: </li><li>Displays positive and enthusiastic attitude </li><li>Ability to work as a team with other staff </li><li>Displays dependability and punctuality </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Position works indoors in a typical school classroom environment </li><li>May work near others, often within a few feet </li><li>May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting </li></ul> <p>The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
