<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the safety of the children enrolled in the program. </li><li>Document and respond to all participate incidents. </li><li>Maintain essential records and attendance sheets. </li><li>Complete required reports. </li><li>Maintain current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and BBP Blood Bourne Pathogens. </li><li>Provide guidance and assistance during activities. </li><li>Prepare/ follow assigned curriculum. </li><li>Maintain discipline of children. </li><li>Ensure necessary supplies, including First Aid, BBP protective equipment. </li><li>Maintain rapport with parents and participants. </li><li>Ability to read, write, and understand written directions </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school Diploma or GED required. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience working or participating in any sports program. </li><li>Previous work experience working with children is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Certification(s) and Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age </li><li>Must complete concussion training prior to working in a sports related activity. </li><li>CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire. </li><li>Must receive ODJFS (Ohio Department of Job and Family Services) licensing certification within 30 days of hire. (for licensed camps only) </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills and Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics. </li><li>Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions. </li><li>Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process:/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services(696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s). </li></ul>
