This role involves sample extraction using manual pipetting techniques, Tecan, and automated technology. The scientist will manually review data for calibrations, QC, and chromatography, and perform and report on analytical tests per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Test and troubleshoot using instruments and procedures in the department. </li><li>Provide support in quality control, troubleshooting complex problems, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects completion. </li><li>Comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient test result records. </li><li>Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results, including STATS or critical results to clients. </li><li>Ensure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates if applicable. </li><li>Perform and document QC analysis to ensure clinical data accuracy and proper instrument function, making quality control decisions as needed. </li><li>Escalate problems associated with test procedures appropriately. </li><li>Report any deviations from standard testing procedures and cooperate fully with investigations. </li><li>Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reporting. </li><li>Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements, using personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed by management. </li><li>Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel. </li><li>Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>ASCP or C (ASCP) certification </li><li>Bachelor's degree in one of the Sciences (preferably Chemistry or Medical Lab Science) </li><li>1 year of clinical lab experience (preferably in Chemistry, but generalist experience is acceptable) </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in chemistry, laboratory, clinical laboratory, gas chromatography, and liquid chromatography </li><li>Familiarity with CLIA regulations </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This role is set in a very busy clinical lab environment with increasing volume. The shift is Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6:30 PM with rotational weekends. A 10% differential is provided for weekend work.
