Eskenazi Health is accredited by The Joint Commission and has been highlighted as one of the nation's 150 best places to work by Becker's Hospital Review for four consecutive years.</p> <p>Indianapolis offers affordable housing, excellent schools and a wealth of entertainment options, including a variety of amateur and professional sports teams, dynamic museums, live theater productions, symphony and opera concerts, a wide variety of shopping options and restaurants, and numerous outdoor festivals, as well as the famous Indy 500 race each May.</p> <p>FLSA Status</p> <p>NA</p> <p>Job Role Summary</p> <p>The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - Vascular/Thoracic Surgery works as an educator, advocate and care provider and is responsible for the care and well-being of patients in the vascular/thoracic surgery outpatient clinic, perioperative, and inpatient services.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Consistent service line-focused coordination of care, throughout multiple phases </li><li>Collaborate with healthcare team to implement treatment plan, including daily rounds with residents and staff </li><li>Review, triage, and support clinic </li><li>Lung Cancer Screening Program </li><li>Obtain/update consent, history and physical, surgical site marking, pre-operative labs and medications for surgical patients both inpatient and morning admission </li><li>Screen surgery patients, focusing on determination of treatment, qualification for a clinical protocol, and optimal disposition </li><li>Assist in the operating room </li><li>Consistent resource for rotating surgical residents </li><li>Remove chest tubes and drains as indicated </li><li>Available contact person and resource, including but not limited to respond to calls, perform consultations, maintain surgeons' schedules, and sales representatives </li><li>Complete FMLA/disability documentation and peer-to-peer review </li><li>Develop, implement, and update education materials </li><li>Attend, contribute, and present in Tumor Board and Multidisciplinary Case Conferences </li><li>Community engagement via professional organizations and committee involvement </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Master of Science degree</p> <p>Current Indiana license, Indiana Controlled Substance and Drug Enforcement Registration</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications, Training, and Experience</p> <p>Noncore Specialty privileges:</p> <p>Chest tube removal</p> <p>Drain removal (optional)</p> <p>Specialty certification if available and warranted</p> <p>Eskenazi Health has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2018 list of "150 Great Places to Work In Health Care."
