<p>Overview:</p> <p>The Head of School (HOS) is the building level leader of ACE Prep and is at the helm of every decision for ACE Prep. The HOS oversees the academic programming as well as the overall student experience, including culture and discipline in conjunction with our Executive Director. This role requires you to be laser focused on absolute academic excellence, human-centered in practices, and operate with urgency, clarity, and love at every moment. Your charge is to ensure our classroom outcomes are on par with the Indiana state average by the end of 2026-2027 school year. You must work to build a mission driven staff culture, retain our highest performing staff members, and ensure school wide systems operate efficiently and are student-centered.</p> <p>The Head of School is the primary driver of all things academic and instructional including curriculum, assessments, instructional staffing, professional development, special populations, and compliance with DOE. They are focused on ensuring 100% of our students are growing as young scholars intellectually and personally. The HOS oversees a team of instructional leaders who manage and coach our instructional team to provide rigorous, college-preparatory instruction for all Scholars, including multilingual learners and Scholars with IEPs/504s.</p> <p>Additionally, The Head of School will also manage a team that ensures our Scholars and families are connected to needed resources and supports to increase quality academic participation at Circle City Prep. The student supports team's job is threefold: (1) provide a consistent and supportive system for scholars to be successful in class in alignment with our school discipline policy, (2) increase student overall attendance with an average daily attendance of 94%, and (3) connect families to resources and external supports to support their overall well-being.</p> <p>Background on the Organizations:</p> <p>ACE Prep, currently serving grades K-6 in the Greater Broad Ripple area, was founded in 2015. ACE Prep has remained steadfast in its belief that every child deserves an excellent education, no matter their zip code. ACE PREP boasts a 90% IREAD pass rate in SY24 and historically outperforms the district on ILEARN in both reading and math while serving a student population of 85% low-income students.</p> <p>In the summer of 2025, Circle City Prep and ACE Prep, two high-performing, single-site charter schools in Indianapolis, dedicated to providing a rigorous, college-preparatory education for all students, are merging to provide expanded opportunities to scholars and families in Broad Ripple.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>Your team includes: Instructional Coaches, Special Educator, and Dean.</p> <p>As the Head of School, you are responsible for:</p> <p>ACADEMIC VISION SETTING AND TRACKING:</p> <ul> <li>Increase IREAD and ILEARN performance by 5%+ from SY25 to SY26 </li><li>Set, track, and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual academic goals that align to our organizational goals, including tracking academic progress of our special populations students (SpEd & MLL). </li><li>Lead team to invest all stake-holders in academic goals (individually and collectively). </li></ul> <p>INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM:</p> <ul> <li>Lead Instructional Leadership Team to provide consistent, impactful, game-changing support for all educators (including weekly observations, weekly coaching conversations, lesson modeling and co-teaching, real-time coaching, weekly planning meetings, weekly data meetings, and execution clinics). </li><li>Develop Instructional Leadership Team's academic and instructional lens so they are positioned to lead transformational coaching with their teams (through weekly team meetings, 1:1 coaching, building walkthroughs, execution clinics, etc.). </li><li>Manage daily academic instruction through layers of management. </li><li>Developing ILT (Instructional Leadership Team) to lead small group and whole school professional development. </li><li>Foster commitment from full instructional staff to develop and fulfill the school's mission and objectives. </li><li>Develop others (including ILT, grade-level team leads, and Lead Teachers) to take on additional leadership and responsibilities in alignment to the school mission and vision and free up capacity for other leaders to engage in deeper and/or longer term work. </li><li>Lead the ILT to retain 90% of effective teachers year over year. </li></ul> <p>STUDENT SUPPORTS</p> <ul> <li>Creates and executes strategy to increase overall attendance with a goal of 85% on-time and ADA of 94%. </li><li>Creates and executes strategy to increase instructional time for all scholars across all grade-levels and builds a joyful, positive school culture, decreasing out of class referrals by 10% quarterly. </li><li>Provides game-changing support for all families at CCP, including but not limited to those in crisis and transition. </li><li>Creates trusting relationships with families and community organizations to be a conduit of available services and supports to our Scholars and families. </li><li>Ensures team responds to family concerns promptly and effectively. </li><li>Manages school partners to provide quality onsite counseling and behavior skills development and act as McKinney-Vento liaison. </li><li>Leads Parent Engagement Committee and increases participation by 50%. </li></ul> <p>SCHOOL DISCIPLINE</p> <ul> <li>Monitors school-wide discipline data (ensuring data is consistent, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner) and ensures school's Bright Lines are followed with fidelity. </li><li>Creates data-driven response plans to decrease referrals and increase student time on-task, decreasing referrals by 10% quarterly. </li><li>Leads team that acts as family contact when there is a discipline concern and/or when school interventions are not being successful. </li><li>Leads school-wide Socio-Emotional Learning efforts through adoption of curriculum, fidelity of role out and intentional application of skills and priorities throughout the year as to grow our full school community in SEL practices. </li><li>Performs crisis intervention for Scholars as needed. </li></ul> <p>FAMILY ENGAGEMENT</p> <ul> <li>Lead organization to hit enrollment targets of 175+ on Count Day #1 and #2, retaining 90% of scholars from 9/1 through the end of the school year. </li><li>Communicate regularly with families, ensuring they are kept involved with, and held accountable for, their children's performance. </li><li>Create structures with ILT and Lead Teachers to bring families into the building on a regular cadence. </li><li>Respond to family academic concerns promptly and effectively. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Foster commitment among staff to the development and fulfillment of the school's mission and objectives. </li><li>Oversee faculty and staff, including recruitment, evaluation, retention, and dismissal and hold primary responsibility for professional development, staff observations, curriculum development, staff communication, and program decisions. </li><li>Be a leader in positive staff culture that leads to long-term retention of our highest performing staff members. </li><li>Provide professional development to staff (one-on-one, small group, and whole school) around school-wide systems and routines, parent engagement, trauma-informed best practices, and socio-emotional learning. </li><li>Participate in weekly manager check-ins, leadership team meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions. </li><li>Additional responsibilities as defined by the Head of School. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>To be considered as a Head of School, you must:</p> <ul> <li>Have at least 5 years of experience working in an urban public school, teaching and leadership experience K-8. </li><li>Have a track record of game-changing academic results year over year. </li><li>Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred. </li><li>Belief in and alignment with organizational core values and educational philosophy is non-negotiable. </li><li>Willingness to work occasional weekend and evening hours </li><li>Pass a criminal background check, as
