Specific duties will include working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve and maintain the skill levels of the class. Will also assist with classroom management and implement student specific behavior plans as appropriate as well as providing for special health care needs.</p> <p>Salary Lane: ASST-F + STRIVE add-on - Hourly pay starting at $19.00.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Assigned Workday Calendar: 181 days (School Year Days)</p> <p>Job Status: Full-Time (35 Hours per Week)</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 Hours Daily</p> <p>Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for medical, dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement.</p> <p>Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible</p> <p>Holiday Pay: Not Eligible</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Educational: High school diploma or GED required. Advanced work in special education preferred. </li><li>Skills and Knowledge: Must have ability to relate well and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals including students, staff, parents, and classroom volunteers. </li><li>Experience: None is required. Experience in a classroom setting preferred. </li><li>Certification: None is required. </li><li>Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains schedule as developed by supervising teacher. </li><li>Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Utilizes de-escalation techniques when behaviors and emotions are escalated, at the direction of the teacher. </li><li>Prepares classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials. </li><li>Accompanies students to general education and special area classes and support them in those areas. </li><li>Participates in in-service training program. </li><li>Assists with lunch, snack, and clean up routines as needed. </li><li>Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. </li><li>Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills. </li><li>Maintains records and collects data as directed by the teacher. </li><li>Will provide personal care support for and with students as needed. </li><li>Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. </li><li>Performs other such tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
