<p>Summary</p> <p>Chatham High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Marching Band Assistant Director for the upcoming season. This seasonal position will support the Director in all aspects of the marching band program, fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes musical excellence, teamwork, and personal growth among student musicians. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in music education and marching band techniques, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Marching Band Director in planning, organizing, and executing rehearsals, performances, and competitions. </li><li>Provide instruction to students in instrumental techniques, marching fundamentals, and music interpretation. </li><li>Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement a cohesive and engaging marching band show. </li><li>Help manage logistics for rehearsals and performances, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment needs. </li><li>Support student leadership and foster a positive team culture among band members. </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding band activities and expectations. </li><li>Assist in the recruitment and retention of band members through outreach and engagement initiatives. </li><li>Attend all rehearsals, performances, and competitions, providing guidance and support to students. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with marching band trends and educational practices. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field preferred. </li><li>Previous experience in a marching band setting, either as a participant or instructor. </li><li>Available for Band Camp August 11-16 </li><li>Available for Wednesday Evening Rehearsals from August 20, 2025 to mid-November from 4-7pm. </li><li>Available for weekly sectionals Monday and Tuesday Evenings 5-7pm </li><li>Weekly football games and 3 competitions throughout the fall </li><li>Strong knowledge of instrumental techniques, marching fundamentals, and music theory. </li><li>Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents. </li><li>Passion for music education and commitment to student development. </li></ul> <p>The School District of the Chathams provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</p> <p>This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.</p> <p>The use of Duo Mobile on a personal device is a requirement of employment at the School District of the Chathams.</p>
