<p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month teacher contract (190 days), plus benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: EXEMPT.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Virtual Learning Special Education Teacher supports 6th-12th grade students with disabilities in a non-traditional, technology-enhanced learning environment. The teacher is responsible for delivering specially designed instruction, monitoring student progress, collaborating with general education staff, and maintaining compliance with all special education requirements. The role also includes providing assistance with student supervision during transitions and non-instructional times when on campus, and offering individualized academic or behavioral support to students as needed.</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>To provide individualized and inclusive special education services to students with disabilities enrolled in a virtual or alternative learning environment. The teacher will ensure that students receive appropriate instruction, accommodations, and interventions in alignment with their IEPs, while also supporting technology-based learning through platforms like Edgenuity. This role includes both virtual instruction and occasional in-person supervision duties such as lunchroom, recess, arrival, and dismissal.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Current Arkansas certification in Special Education. </li><li>Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk. </li><li>Evidence of ability to work well with others. </li><li>Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training. </li><li>Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills. </li><li>Strong technology skills and ability to adapt to virtual learning tools </li><li>Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans. </li><li>Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance procedures. </li><li>Proficiency with Chromebooks, Edgenuity, and other virtual learning tools. </li><li>Ability to deliver engaging and accessible virtual instruction tailored to diverse learning needs. </li><li>Strong understanding of behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior supports. </li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams. </li><li>Patience, flexibility, and creativity in supporting students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs. </li><li>Strong organizational skills for managing IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and service logs. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a member of the educational management team. </li><li>Implements individual educational goals and objectives. </li><li>Deliver specially designed instruction in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), both virtually and in-person. </li><li>Utilize digital tools, including Chromebooks and Edgenuity, to support instruction and learning goals. </li><li>Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt virtual curriculum for accessibility and differentiation. </li><li>Monitor student progress, provide data-driven interventions, and document services in alignment with IEP goals. </li><li>Conduct virtual or in-person IEP meetings, and maintain all required documentation for compliance with IDEA and district policies. </li><li>Provide 1:1 or small group instruction for students who require additional support with academic or behavioral needs. </li><li>Support students in navigating digital platforms, troubleshooting technical issues, and staying engaged in virtual learning tasks. </li><li>Maintain ongoing communication with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and needs. </li><li>Participate in professional development related to virtual instruction, assistive technology, and special education strategies. </li><li>Performs other duties as the principal/supervisor may, from time to time, assign. </li></ul> <p>Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.</p>
