Primary responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Annual Cancer Committee coordination, monitoring and reporting of compliance with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards, including cancer conferences (tumor boards), and the managing the software and databases that the BCC uses to support and document progress; </li><li>Project coordinator for assigned quality improvement projects using methodologies such as Plan-Do-Study-Act or SMART goals. Contributes to continuous improvement or growth initiatives by executing assigned tasks and coordinating team efforts in the testing, data collection, training, implementation, and post-implementation monitoring. </li><li>Information technology liaison, super-user and optimization consultant for EMR/software training workflow improvement/ testing and, </li><li>May serve as a project manager for smaller scale projects. Quality Improvement outcomes reporting. As assigned, participates in collecting data, organizing data, creating spreadsheets, and graphs to ensure clear visual communication of the outcomes of selected projects to the department or specific stakeholders. </li><li>Other special projects or tasks may be assigned to support the Executive Director or Dana Farber collaborative as needed. Supports efforts to grow and continuously improve the cancer service line as assigned. </li></ul> <p>This important role supervises or directly plans, analyzes and executes assigned projects or tasks to support achievements of quality, safety and accreditation functions in the Cancer Service Line: ACoS CoC Cancer Committee, Cancer Conferences (i.e: tumor boards), Quality Improvement project coordination as assigned. Prepares outcomes reports to increase QI communication and visibility across the organization.</p> <p>The Cancer Program is required by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer, to conduct site specific cancer conferences with a goal to ensure patient-centered cancer care. Cancer conferences improve the care of patients with cancer by providing multidisciplinary treatment planning opportunities and contributing to physician and allied medical staff education. Continuous quality improvement is critical to accessible, high quality, and safe patient care.</p> <p>Support for Bennett Cancer Center software optimization projects, testing and ongoing education (not provided by the IT department) ensures proficiency, efficiency and supports users in unique cancer center workflows to ensure care is coordinated and ordered correctly for complex or time-sensitive patient care and accurate data capture to support value-based care and quality metrics.</p> <p>MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES / CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Cancer Program Accreditation</p> </li><li> <p>Each year, consults with CoC standard owners to plan, implement and report progress an annual goal-driven plan for Commission on Cancer accreditation.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides programmatic support for CoC standard owners: educates on standard requirements, assesses for gaps in compliance and makes recommendations for improvement and compliance.</p> </li><li> <p>Accountable for monitoring policy and procedures to ensure the committee reviews, updates or creates new policies as required by the accreditation program and within the appropriate time frame. Manages uploading and approvals of policies in the software system.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops, implements and maintains compliance using a CoC standards tracking tool and reporting dashboard. Manages oncology program by tracking compliance and documenting the outcomes necessary for continued accreditation.</p> </li><li> <p>Works closely and effectively with the Cancer Registrar, Physician Liaison and Quality Manager to monitor progress towards quality measures requirements, quality standards and archiving project documentation to support reaccreditation.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for compiling the minutes from quarterly Cancer Committee meetings as well as tumor site steering committee meetings. Monitors submission and stores committee and subcommittee minutes for member reference and evidence of compliance with standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinator for Cancer Conferences (Tumor Boards)</p> </li><li> <p>In collaboration with disease team leaders, coordinates the planning and implementation of tumor board sessions, assisting team members with technical presentations, obtaining continuing medical education credits relevant to tumor board participation, and assist with coordination of patient case presentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures CoC program standards are met by documenting the outcomes necessary for continued accreditation. Develops, implements, and maintains compliance using a cancer conference reporting dashboard.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates, documents and reports on tumor board attendance by all relevant clinicians, including Dana-Farber Brigham Women's staff across disease-based teams. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of master tumor board schedules.</p> </li><li> <p>Superuser and trainer for the cancer conference software program. Responsible for including user access, data integrity, and generation of conference reports. Troubleshoots issues and requests enhancements directly with the I.S. department and/or vendor. Functions as a liaison between the clinical staff, the IT team, nursing and physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Quality Monitoring Functions: Produces regular reports summarizing tumor board activity, and cancer cases by type and stage of disease for every team as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Quality Improvement</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates team members and tasks for assigned studies of quality/quality improvements projects related to the cancer program or initiatives across the Cancer Center service line. May serve as project manager for smaller scale projects as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Accountable in the use of PDSA/SMART or other QI methodology as directed. Participates in the design of data collection system, regular status reporting, and assists in objective data analysis as directed. Is an active contributor to team problem solving.</p> </li><li> <p>As assigned, prepare written reports, assemble data, and create charts and graphs representing key performance indicators and other quality data. Supports communication of projects and QI outcomes to the BCC to promote transparency and demonstrate accountability.</p> </li><li> <p>Information Technology Super User and Instructor for BCC - specific software</p> </li><li> <p>Leverages information technology knowledge and is a competent EMR and ancillary software superuser for cancer center specific software.</p> </li><li> <p>Creates staff training materials and assists with training programs. Assists in supporting physicians and clinical staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Interfaces with external vendors and/or I.S. as appropriate to report, track and test EMR issues and requests enhancements to promote optimization of software.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific skills include the development and deployment of pertinent role-based training to end users, coaching and problem solving assistance to ensure that end users (including physicians, nurses and business staff members) can effectively use the technology and processes established by the BCC.</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree required; bachelors preferred. </li><li>3+ years experience in a health care setting. Cancer center experience is a plus. </li><li>Strong communication Skills (written, verbal, presentation and patient engagement). </li><li>Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and cancer registry data . Knowledge of AJCC staging preferred. </li><li>Requires understanding of people, ability to influence thinking, and positive interaction with all ages, diverse natures and economic backgrounds. </li><li>Strong Excel skills and ability to create pivot tables and graphs. </li><li>Analytical Skills and Ability to Work with Systems to collect, prepare data, organize data in spreadsheets, and present data. </li><li>Experience with quality improvement projects, and methodologies. </li><li>Builds and maintains effective working relationships with others. Deals with patients, physicians, employees and visitors with sensitivity, courtesy and respect. Contact with others is inside and outside the department. </li><li>This role requires an organized planner with problem solving skills, who can interface with all team members, and has scrupulous attention to detail. </li><li>Experience with process improvement.
