You will play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of the campus community through outdoor and adventure-based activities. CRW is committed to creating an environment of belonging and well-being and supports the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to purposeful well-being.</p> <p>Main Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and facilitate adventure programs such as rock climbing, kayaking, and hiking </li><li>Assist with the planning and implementation of adventure trips and events </li><li>Ensure the safety and well-being of participants </li><li>Maintain and inspect equipment and facilities </li><li>Promote CRW adventure programs and encourage student participation </li></ul> <p>Operate the Adventure Center and Rock-Climbing Wall:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at our climbing wall including belaying, supervision and enforcement of climbing wall polices. </li><li>Create a welcoming and safe environment while providing exemplary customer service. · </li><li>Assist participants and trip staff with equipment selection and rentals. </li><li>Load watercraft onto vehicles for participant and program use. </li><li>Offer guidance and resources for outdoor recreation activities to participants. </li><li>Be attentive, attend all training, and perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Challenge Course Program Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Lead groups safely and effectively through field games, low ropes course tasks, alpine tower, and odyssey course. </li><li>Properly utilize, store, and care for challenge course equipment. </li><li>Participate in maintenance and inspections of program areas. </li><li>Facilitate the group through activities and resolve any conflicts. </li><li>Adapt to group goals and needs while debriefing and leading activities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>· Experience in outdoor activities or adventure programming preferred. </li><li>· Strong leadership and communication skills. </li><li>· Ability to lift 50 pounds. </li><li>· Ability to obtain a belay certification through the Adventure Leadership Program. </li><li>· First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (preferred) </li></ul> <p>Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Majors that may find this a good fit include, but are not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Kinesiology</p> </li><li> <p>Recreation and Park Management</p> </li><li> <p>Environmental Health/ Environmental Studies</p> </li><li> <p>Business Administration</p> </li><li> <p>2.5 GPA</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of being hired.</p> </li><li> <p>Current ECU student.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to obtain belay certification through ECU's climbing wall clinic within two weeks of hire.</p> </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicant</p> <p>Please upload your resume online.</p> <p>Cover Letter is optional</p> <p>Quick Link for Direct Access https://ecu.peopleadmin.com/postings/72709 Open Date 03/17/2025 Close Date 05/01/2025 Open Until Filled No Nondiscrimination Statement</p> <p>East Carolina University is committed to workforce success and cultivating a culture of care for our employees.
