Duties include zebrafish feeding, monitoring water conditions, colony health, stock maintenance and breeding, and upkeep of the facility. This position requires Saturday and Sunday feedings, often taking 3-4 hours per day. There may be opportunities for additional work throughout the week.</p> <p>This opening is an ideal opportunity for local college students or recent graduates interested in a career in aquaculture, fish husbandry and/or biomedical research.</p> <p>PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The candidate will work under the general supervision of the Facility faculty Manager and staff, and will be expected to independently carry out the daily activities of the aquatics facility which include:</p> <ul> <li>Provide appropriate daily husbandry (feeding, health evaluations/Tank exchanges)to Zebra fish and maintenance of the Zebra fish facilities (equipment and facility sanitation) </li><li>Perform daily food culture and inventory of feed supplies </li><li>Provide zebrafish care, including maintenance and breeding of relevant fish lines for facility stocks and facility users </li><li>Provide daily maintenance and care of zebrafish embryos in Facility incubators </li><li>Perform routine and non-routine facility maintenance </li><li>Perform water quality analysis of quarantine and main room systems </li><li>Perform husbandry duties along with Facility users </li><li>Assist Facility users with routine Facility operations and occasional experiments </li><li>Any other Facility related duties as assigned by the Facility Manager and Co-directors and Administrative Director </li><li>Saturday and Sunday AM hours are required to perform weekend feeding duties. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma.</p> <p>Prior aquatics experience is beneficial but is not necessary.
