<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant</p> <p>Position Code:</p> <p>Department: TBD</p> <p>FLSA: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Supervises: N/A</p> <p>Job Summary: To assist in assessing and providing quality instruction and learning opportunities for exceptional children through a variety of settings and instructional procedures, according to the essential functions listed below.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Assist in planning/implementing instruction for students identified as exceptional.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in overseeing the distribution and intake of medication to students on continuous dosage regimens.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in daily instruction to self-contained and resource students.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the maintenance of adaptive communication equipment and other specialized equipment related to the exceptional children's program.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the identification of specific needs of the exceptional children's program and order appropriate materials using the allotted budget.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend to daily physical needs of students as required.</p> </li></ol> <p>Other Functions:</p> <ol> <li>Other duties as assigned by supervising teacher. </li></ol> <p>Education, Experience, and Skills Required:</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment: 10 months - Teacher Assistant Salary Scale</p> <p>Evaluation:</p> <p>Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Board of Education policy, North Carolina statutes, and goals established by the Principal.</p> <p>Environmental Factors:</p> <p>This position requires lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and dealing with sick students. Must attend to daily physical needs of students (feeding, bathroom, medical, etc.)</p>
