<p>Position Title: High School Computer Science and Engineering Teacher (PLTW)</p> <p>Grade Level: 9-12</p> <p>Teaching Certificate Required: Secondary Math, Science, or Technology</p> <p>Previous Teaching Experience Required: None (PLTW preferred)</p> <p>General Description of Position Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a valid state teaching certification in science or another relevant STEM field. </li><li>Possess experience teaching or coaching high school students, ideally in a STEM environment. </li><li>Have a deep understanding of PLTW principles and curriculum. </li><li>Demonstrably passionate about computer science and its potential to empower students (preferred). </li><li>Are a creative and resourceful educator with a knack for making complex concepts accessible and engaging. </li><li>Possess excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. </li></ul> <p>Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desire:</p> <p>Design and deliver dynamic lessons that integrate Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum across science, technology, and engineering concepts. Lead and coach our robotics team, fostering collaboration, creativity, and problem solving through hands-on learning. Develop and implement engaging computer science activities and projects (preferred, but not required). Collaborate with other teachers to build a comprehensive and cohesive STEM program.</p> <p>Physical and Mental Efforts:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance </li><li>Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices. </li><li>Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time </li><li>Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another. </li><li>Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students accurately, loudly, or quickly </li><li>Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication. </li><li>Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. </li><li>Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision. </li><li>Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time. </li><li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
