<p>Assistant, IREAD Summer School (Cedar, Hickory, Maple, Sycamore, Pine Tree, River Birch) INTERNAL ONLY JobID: 5675</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support/Instructional Assistants</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/12/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Multiple Buildings</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>06/03/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>LOCATIONS: Positions available at Cedar, Hickory, Maple, River Birch, Sycamore Elementary and Pine Tree Elementary</p> <p>HOURS:</p> <p>Students report 8:00am-11:00am</p> <p>Assistants report 7:30am-11:30am</p> <p>DATES:</p> <p>June 3, 2025- June 13,2025 (9 days)</p> <p>COMPENSATION:</p> <p>Assistants positions start at $18.25/hour and will commensurate with experience (4 hours daily)</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS REQUIRED:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Educational Requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Possess Skills and Knowledge: Communicates effectively with students, staff, and parents. Has basic knowledge of how to instruct students.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience: At least one year experience in early childhood programs (i.e. day care, community programs), or experience as an elementary classroom assistant, or post-high school work in education or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Certification: None.</p> </li><li> <p>Other: To maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.</p> </li></ol> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Work every day that students attend.</p> </li><li> <p>To work under the direction of the classroom teacher.</p> </li></ol> <p>2.1 Assist individual students with learning tasks assigned by the teacher.</p> <p>2.2 Assist students in small group learning situations.</p> <p>2.3 Monitor the class while the teacher works with individuals or groups.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Assist the teacher in organizing and preparing instructional materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the teacher with instructional related clerical tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in supervising students according to the activity schedule developed by the Summer School Administrator.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the primary source of information to assist the substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with supervision of students during opening and dismissal activities as assigned by the Summer School Administrator.</p> </li><li> <p>Prime time teacher assistant may not</p> </li></ol> <p>9.1 Have the sole responsibility of teaching units of study.</p> <p>9.2 Be assigned exclusively to non-instructional duties.</p> <p>9.3 Exclusively replace the classroom teacher in the teacher's assigned supervision duties.</p> <p>9.4 Substitute for an absent teacher. If the assistant is a licensed substitute teacher, he/she may substitute on an emergency basis and will be paid substitute pay.</p> <ol start="10"> <li> <p>Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Project a genuine care and concern for all students.</p> </li><li> <p>Other instructional related tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher or Summer School Administrator.</p> </li></ol> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
