<p>We are seeking mentors for our Student Support Services (SSS) - STEM program. Mentos should have strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to support students in the SSS-STEM program. The primary responsibilities of a Mentor are to serve as role models in supporting students through individual and group meetings toward their success. Mentors guide students in ensuring they feel a sense of belonging to the program and college and help facilitate a welcoming environment for personal growth and success.</p> <p>This is a part-time, hourly position.</p> <p>Example of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students' diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences. </li><li>Participate in Staff Meetings, mentor training, and professional development activities to continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills. </li><li>Make appropriate referrals to other campus and community resources as needed. </li><li>Facilitate group workshop sessions. </li><li>Reinforce collegiate skills including time management, communication and networking, and study strategies. </li><li>Conduct check-in meetings with mentees and maintain regular outreach. </li><li>Assist in the development of skills necessary for students to succeed both personally and academically. </li><li>Assist students in developing career/academic goals and expectations. </li><li>Participate in the planning of enrichment activities. </li><li>Evaluate and document mentoring experiences. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director. </li></ul> <p>Skills/Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Current College Student </li><li>Technology, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Knowledge of social media platforms </li><li>Ability to work in a team environment coordinating needed student services </li></ul> <p>The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.</p> <p>Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $16.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.) </li><li>Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential, limited counseling services, work-life assistance, legal and financial guidance. </li><li>Commuter Benefits: Free parking access is provided on site.
