Building on Purdue University's mission to provide</p> <p>greater access to affordable, high-quality education, Purdue University Global is a public,</p> <p>nonprofit institution offering a world-class education online.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Academic Department Chair supervises full- and part-time faculty in teaching their courses,</p> <p>being responsive to students, remaining current in their respective discipline and ensuring their</p> <p>involvement in providing course feedback and participation in professional development</p> <p>activities. The Department Chair is also expected to ensure the currency, relevance, and</p> <p>appropriateness of the curriculum in Accounting as a whole and work with course leaders and</p> <p>the Assistant Dean of Curriculum in the development and maintenance of courses within the</p> <p>assigned program.</p> <p>What to expect in this role:</p> <p>? Directly supervise full and part-time faculty including interviewing, hiring, and training;</p> <p>planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and</p> <p>disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <p>? Partner with the Scheduling Manager for the scheduling of classes and/or assignment of</p> <p>full time faculty and part time adjunct in all accounting programs (AASA, BSA, MSA,</p> <p>Graduate certificate).</p> <p>? Review part time and full time faculty performance to ensure maintenance of the</p> <p>classroom standards.</p> <p>? Take a lead role in assigned course curriculum oversight in conjunction with course</p> <p>leaders and the Assistant Dean of Curriculum.</p> <p>? Make recommendations to the Associate Dean as appropriate related to hiring,</p> <p>evaluation, and retention of faculty in assigned courses. Metrics include percentage of</p> <p>faculty with terminal degrees, student end of term survey results and GPA distribution in</p> <p>sections and courses.</p> <p>? Contribute to the overall success of the University as a whole. Assessment will include</p> <p>positive working relationships with peers and external departments as well as driving</p> <p>professional accounting affiliations and opportunities.</p> <p>? Participate in student retention activities and provide a beginning point of contact for</p> <p>faculty with student escalation issues.</p> <p>? Provide a meaningful learning experience for each student in every course.</p> <p>? Perform other administrative and job-related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>MSA or MBA with CPA required, Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Accounting or related field preferred.</p> <p>3-5 years experience in post-secondary education (experience with online instruction is a plus).</p> <p>Leadership experience and online learning experience is preferred.</p> <p>What we're looking for:</p> <p>? Excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills, and ability to work</p> <p>independently in a virtual environment with minimal supervision.</p> <p>? Ability to work a flexible schedule</p> <p>? Ability to work in a multicultural environment, across diverse teams, departments, and Schools.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>?
