<p>Department PW/Engineering Type of Position Full-time Salary/Pay Rate $53,000 - $73,000 based on education and experience Deadline to Apply ongoing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a standard high school required, college and/or advance level courses in construction, Auto CAD and Civil Engineering preferred; minimum of one year of experience in construction, concrete, asphalt and utility construction; valid driver's license; or equivalent experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS Must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment physical. NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED This position is responsible for engineering duties including surveying, inspecting construction projects, and assisting in construction project management.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Assists in preparation of construction plans and specifications; performs sidewalk and curb inspections and associated reporting and filing; assist Chief of Survey; creates reports, keeps records, and prepares as-built drawings; inspects Public Works construction projects; inspects construction in the right of way including curb, sidewalk, driveway and sewer connections; assists in the administration of Engineering Bureau permits using Community Plus; collects sewer meter data, utilizing special computer hardware and software.</p> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES General knowledge of construction techniques, engineering principles, and material testing; ability to record data accurately and apply data to engineering activities; ability to prepare design and field drawings and specifications under direction; ability to read and understand contract drawings and specifications; experience in concrete, asphalt and utility construction; ability to perform work in a construction atmosphere in a safe orderly manner.</p> <p>HOW TO APPLY Applicants should send a resume and cover letter outlining how they meet the specific requirements of the position to jobs@bethlehem-pa.gov or City of Bethlehem, Human Resources, 10 E.
