<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Applied lesson teaching positions are an "Open Pool" for the upcoming Spring 2025 Academic Semester, and the 2025-2026 Academic Year. There may or may not be available openings at this time. However, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis.</p> <p>HOURLY RATE: $42.50.</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES</p> <p>The Music Department at Greenfield Community College seeks part-time Applied Music Program instructors to fulfill private lesson teaching responsibilities for instruments including, guitar, piano/keyboard, drum kit, bass guitar, saxophone, clarinet, violin, cello, and contemporary/jazz voice. This position requires individuals with evidenced professional performance background, college teaching experience or equivalent, and experience fostering musical education within a diverse student population.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Scheduling weekly lessons and make-up lessons with students independently in coordination with the college calendar and deadlines </li><li>Creating course syllabus based on Music Department core component structure, in conjunction with Music Department Chair </li><li>Facilitating individualized lesson planning for each student to include core components </li><li>Guiding student recital program repertoire development and rehearsal organization </li><li>Evaluating and grading student work on a weekly basis according to course objectives, in conjunction with the Music Department Chair </li><li>Creating responsive assignment and participation plans for students with learning differences </li><li>Participating in Music Department meetings, student events, and required learning outcomes assessment activities </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:</p> <ul> <li>M.A. in Music (or equivalent experience) with expertise in instrumental instruction and jazz theory/history. </li><li>Proven experience in teaching and professional work in jazz, blues, and contemporary music styles. </li><li>Ability to teach improvisation, music theory, technique, and repertoire across jazz, blues, and post-1950 popular music genres. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse students and learning styles. </li><li>Proficiency in instructional technology and flexibility to teach on an as-needed basis. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of significant previous experience successfully teaching lessons, designing course syllabi, and assessing student learning outcomes in a community college music department setting. </li><li>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: </li></ul> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Greenfield Community College is proud to value diversity in our community of faculty, staff and students and is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. * </li></ul> <p>THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS ACCREDITED BY THE NEW ENGLAND COMMISSION OF HIGHER EDUCATION</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>In order to be considered for this position, you must submit your credentials online.</p> <p>To apply, click on the "Apply Now" button.</p> <p>You will be prompted to set up a new account or login to an existing account.</p> <p>From there, you will be able to upload the following required documents for consideration:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Cover letter </li></ul> <p>When preparing your cover letter and resume, please refer to the minimum and preferred qualifications and, if applicable, include an equivalency statement.</p> <p>Successful completion of a CORI check WILL be required as a condition of employment.
