<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Active Older Adult (AOA) Coordinator is responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of programs and services for older adults iin the branch and in its off-site community program locations. Responsibilities include planning, marketing, delivering, and evaluating effective educational, cultural, artistic and social activities, trips, and special events.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Design, create and lead a regular schedule of programs and services for older adults that foster participant engagement and relationship building. </li><li>Serve as a leader for special events related to Older Adults within the branch and community </li><li>Recruit and provide appropriate, qualified leadership/collaborators for AOA programs. </li><li>Attend pre-scheduled AOA Coordinator meetings to discuss events for the upcoming quarter. </li><li>Present the event schedule and marketing plan to branch leadership monthly. </li><li>Implement and maintain AOA membership retention activities. Monitor monthly AOA connectivity and create strategies to improve participation. </li><li>Ensure that all AOA membership information in Daxko is accurate and current. Reconcile inaccuracies and ineligibles utilizing monthly reports from the appropriate 3rd party insurance information platforms. </li><li>Ensure that promotional materials are distributed at branches. </li><li>Monitor income and expenses in relationship to budget in collaboration with branch and department leadership. Implement actions to ensure sound fiscal management. </li><li>Address all concerns regarding programming (content, safety, instruction, etc.). Respond to member feedback in a timely manner. </li><li>Manage and promote the AOA Volunteer Ambassador Program. </li><li>Gather periodic participant feedback through distribution and compilation of written evaluations. </li><li>Actively promote and assist in YMCA programs and special events. </li><li>Attend required workshops, meetings and training sessions to enhance professional competence and remain current on YMCA of Greater Cleveland procedures; attend staff meetings as directed. </li><li>Be actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree preferred. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 1 year experience in program development. </li><li>Minimum 1 year experience in working with active older adult groups </li><li>Experience in creating and organizing activities for the senior population. </li></ul> <p>Certification(s) & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Certification in CPR at the level of Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration and associated-determined safety training required within 30 days of hire </li><li>Must complete Orientation to Healthy Living, and job specific technical training within 90 days of hire. </li><li>Required to attend two in-service trainings per year. Maintain all required certifications </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills and Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Be customer service focused and willing to go the extra mile. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization and surrounding communities. </li><li>Demonstrate effective public speaking ability and group leadership skills. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. </li><li>Must be able to read; must be able to write legibly and in an understandable manner. </li><li>Must be able to effectively communicate with and observe program participants, members and YMCA staff. </li><li>Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics. </li><li>Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions </li><li>Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s). </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>Definition: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. </li><li>Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. </li><li>The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy </li><li>May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather </li><li>Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. </li><li>Performs work in an office setting with moderate levels of noise, sitting for long periods of time, repetitive motion using computers and phones, with exposure to fluorescent lighting </li></ul> <p>DISCLAIMER:</p> <p>The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only.
