Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.</p> <p>Design Engineering Specialist</p> <p>Lafayette, IN</p> <p>Relocation Assistance is Available</p> <p>Role Definition: Design Engineering Specialist for Core Rotating Components</p> <p>The Large Power Systems Division has an opening for a Design Engineering Specialist located in Lafayette, IN. In the role you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and influence the manufacture and application of critical core components at the heart of our LPSD products. This individual will play a key role in the success of our product and delivery of top organizational initiatives.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Leads design, and development for core rotating components such as crankshafts or engine bearings that satisfy customer needs and advance safety, quality, velocity and cost. </li><li>Acts as the engineering leader on project teams and is tasked to guiding the team in component design, technical project planning, validation, and supplier technical collaboration. </li><li>Oversees the materials selection, manufacturing process selection, supplier selection and quality, as well reliability and durability of a portfolio of parts within core rotating components. </li><li>Communicates both formally and informally, engineering recommendations using a clear summary of the data based logic, alternatives considered, and risks based on design </li><li>Monitors, explores, and tests new technologies, materials, and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Four year degree in an accredited Engineering, Technology, or Materials Science curriculum is preferred. </li></ul> <p>What you have:</p> <p>Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.</p> <p>Level Extensive Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances. </li><li>Organizes and prioritizes the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation. </li><li>Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research. </li><li>Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action. </li><li>Approaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts. </li><li>Chooses among a diverse set of analytical tools according to the nature of the situation. </li></ul> <p>Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.</p> <p>Level Extensive Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks. </li><li>Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process. </li><li>Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact. </li><li>Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives. </li><li>Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus. </li><li>Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions. </li></ul> <p>Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.</p> <p>Level Extensive Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching. </li><li>Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience. </li><li>Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position. </li><li>Communicates well downward, upward, and outward. </li><li>Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement. </li><li>Maintains focus on the topic at hand. </li></ul> <p>Top candidates will also have:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with product or component design and development </li><li>Experience with diesel or natural gas engines, engine systems or applications </li><li>Strong communication with experience summarizing data for impactful recommendations </li><li>Demonstrated accountability and success managing multiple priorities </li><li>Experience with the processes including NPI, CPI, APQP, NSI, and 6Sigma </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Location of this position is Lafayette, IN </li><li>Relocation assistance is available for this position </li><li>This position may require up to 10% travel </li><li>Sponsorship is not approved for this position </li></ul> <p>Summary Pay Range:</p> <p>$126,000.00 - $189,000.00</p> <p>Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
