Therefore, we invite and welcome applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups in healthcare - people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ community, and/or gender expansive, first and second-generation immigrants, veterans, and people from different socioeconomic backgrounds - to apply.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>At the Harvey Cushing Neuro-Oncology Laboratories (HCNL) at Brigham and Women's Hospital, our research is focused on developmental immunotherapy with tumor-permissive oncolytic viruses and tumor immune mechanisms governing high immune tolerance and resistance in brains with tumors. We use advanced DNA manipulation and animal models in conjunction with the latest molecular and immunological tools in our investigation of brain tumors and immunity.</p> <p>We are looking for an energetic and highly organized Research Assistant interested in a variety of animal experiments, cell culture and tissue processing, molecular biology, and essential molecular biological experiments. The position will involve assisting postdoctoral fellows and senior scientists on animal handling aspects of brain tumors and related research. The HCNL offers vast opportunities for personal development and education for those who are willing to participate in our research goals.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>We are looking for a candidate who is able to make at least 1-year commitment to the position to contribute technically to newly funded NIH grant studies. A long-term contribution of more than 1 year is preferable.</p> <p>Potential candidates should hold at least a Bachelor's degree in biology, veterinary, neuroscience, immunology, or a related field; and experience working in research labs or animal facilities that handle mice.</p> <p>We consider candidates who are willing to work with small animals performing the following techniques: mouse handling, intraperitoneal injection, tail-vein injection, perfusion, tissue dissection, blood sampling. Past experiences in survival stereotactic injection, craniotomy, bioluminescent imaging (BLI), and other imaging techniques of small animal, microtome/cryostat tissue sectioning or immunological assay such as PBMC isolation, FACS staining, have the great advantage of considering but is not required. The candidate should possess good eye-hand coordination and the ability to work with fine, handheld tools.</p> <p>Good laboratory practices, well organized in planning and performing lab work, and maintaining procedure records and notebooks are necessary.</p> <p>The candidate should be able to communicate with lab members clearly and in a professional manner.
