Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the patient care unit environment. Ensures patient assignments are based on staff competency and skill sets. Communicates with the multidisciplinary team including physicians, nursing staff, care management, ancillary departments, etc. continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with milieu management. Ensures flow of patients from the emergency department, removes obstacles that hold up admissions or discharges. Participates in performance improvement activities. Supervises unit nursing staff, assists with staff scheduling. Acts as a mentor and role model to all nursing staff..</p> <p>The value you'll bring to the team:</p> <ul> <li>Assigns personnel to particular patients and patient care activities according to personnel's skills and abilities and to equalize workloads. </li><li>Directs and monitors personnel in the performance of patient care activities in order to ensure adequate patient care and quality work. </li><li>Reassigns personnel to different patients or patient care activity if appropriate based upon effective utilization of skills and workload. </li><li>Coordinates authority in deciding when personnel shall be permitted to take breaks and meal periods. </li><li>Enforces policies and procedures. </li><li>Assesses the personnel requirements of the unit on a daily basis and requests additional personnel when necessary. </li><li>Participates in hiring process for new personnel. </li><li>Routinely make independent operational decisions and directs others in appropriate nursing interventions. </li><li>Recommends disciplinary action when appropriate for misconduct or other infractions; or suspends personnel from work based upon the severity of the infraction. </li><li>Coordinates continuity of nursing care and takes initiative to ensure appropriate levels of care are provided. </li><li>Coordinates continuity of nursing care and takes initiative to ensure appropriate levels of care are provided. </li><li>Effectively resolves crisis situations involving residents, families, employees and physicians. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :</p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum 2 years nursing experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.</p> </li><li> <p>Active NC or Compact State Nursing Licensure</p> </li><li> <p>BCLS, ACLS, PALS</p> </li></ul> <p>This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
