<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Teach and evaluate didactic and/or clinical skills within the SUR courses to diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and Community activities; promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist department chair with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus, or by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends or a combination.</p> <p>TEACHING PERFORMANCE - The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.</p> <p>INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.</p> <p>INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT - The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.</p> <p>STUDENT ADVISEMENT - The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.</p> <p>COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES - The participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.</p> <p>PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Minimum of an associate degree required; must be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>The Surgical Technology instructor may teach day, evening, weekend classes or combinations on any of SCC's campuses; he/she may also teach via distance learning.</p> <p>Spartanburg Community College is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer for all qualified persons regardless of race, color, sex, - including the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, national origin, age, religion, or disability.</p>
