<p>Job Title:</p> <p>Associate Network Design Engineer</p> <p>Physical Location:</p> <p>Kent Campus, Kent, OH</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>$52,232 - $56,400</p> <p>Basic Function:</p> <p>Establishment and maintenance of less complex networking functions that support multiple LANs and wireless. Design, implementation, operation, automate, administration and control of high speed/high performance communications networks. Ongoing support to user departments operating local area networks to integrate and optimize remote computing capabilities. Reports to designated administrator.</p> <p>Additional Basic Function - if applicable:</p> <p>Not applicable.</p> <p>Examples of Duties:</p> <p>Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:</p> <p>Responsibilities include designing, installing, and troubleshooting less complex network and wireless systems to meet the functional objectives of the business, involving configuration and maintenance of less complex physical and logical network components.</p> <p>Perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning.</p> <p>Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of less complex network management software; researching, analyzing, and implementing software patches or hardware changes to fix any network deficiencies. Provides Tier 1/2 support.</p> <p>Assist in the evaluation of new products and services.</p> <p>Collaborate with other teams to design and implement tools that help automate end-to-end processes that involve the network infrastructure.</p> <p>Perform related duties as assigned.</p> <p>JOB COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Configure network components and manage network operations within the existing network architecture. </li><li>Follow networking standards and IT Architectural and Security protocols. </li><li>Provide user support for network component or small network sub system. </li><li>Work effectively with close oversight. </li><li>Maintain contacts with client, but not directly responsible for relationships with department/group clients. </li><li>Make realistic commitments to clients; respond quickly to client requests. </li><li>Communicate regularly and listen effectively. </li><li>Perform work in a manner consistent with organizational values. </li><li>Coordinate problem response with supervisor; effectively document solution. </li><li>Understand personal roles and responsibilities and work unit priorities. </li><li>Ability to work effectively within a team and be a productive member of small and large teams from multiple IT disciplines. </li><li>A demonstrated ability to conceive new ideas and introduce them to teams for consideration and eventual adoption </li></ul> <p>Additional Examples of Duties - if applicable:</p> <p>Not applicable.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree and 3 months related professional experience.</p> <p>Or an Associate's degree and 2 years related professional experience.</p> <p>Or comparable related professional experience equivalent to 4 years.</p> <p>License/Certification:</p> <p>None.</p> <p>Knowledge Of:</p> <p>Network systems design; installation and customization of network components and operating system configurations</p> <p>Network protocols such as OSPF, Link Aggregation (LAG), 802.1Q (Trunks), VLAN, and WLAN</p> <p>Introductory understanding of Switches, and Wireless LAN Controllers</p> <p>Strong understanding of OSI Model</p> <p>Network security procedures</p> <p>Skill In:</p> <p>Scripting Languages (Examples: Python, R, Perl, C, C++, Yaml)</p> <p>Communication skills to effectively elicit information from users, design, and document IT related procedures</p> <p>Ability To:</p> <p>Analyze data and situations, reason logically and creatively identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions</p> <p>Ability to interpret and apply broad regulatory standards and technical specifications to assignments</p> <p>Maintain cooperative working relationships with technical staff, user departments and end users</p> <p>Manage time and resources and effectively balance multiple priorities</p> <p>Maintain high level of quality control</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications - if applicable:</p> <p>None.</p> <p>Assessments:</p> <p>Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which may require assessments.
