It is a fast-paced area to work with a high volume of patient turnover. This allows the nursing staff the ability to care for a variety of patient populations which have been treated with innovative procedures. The Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit is a 15-bed outpatient unit specializing in recovery of patients undergoing cardiac or vascular procedures requiring less than 23 hours. Patients in this unit can be monitored by either bedside or remote cardiac telemetry. The Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit receives its patient population from the Cardiac Cath Lab and the Electrophysiology Lab.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation, 11:00am-11:30pm or 9:00am-9:30pm.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.</p> </li><li> <p>Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A high school diploma or GED.</p> </li><li> <p>Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).</p> </li><li> <p>One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
