We keep pushing boundaries, whether that's in the brewhouse, with sustainability, or in the great outdoors.</p> <p>Get to Know This Role</p> <p>The Microbiology Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of microbiological analyses on raw materials, in-process and finished products to enumerate or detect different microbiological organisms. Reporting to the Microbiology/Quality Supervisor, this role develops and maintains microbiological methods of analysis for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and supports brewery wide troubleshooting of microbiological issues. Experience in microbiological quality systems in a production environment is desired and being a positive, self-motivated team player is a must. This is a professional position that requires area ownership, including the ability to adjust work to fit the needs of supporting our 24/7 brewing and packaging facility.</p> <p>What's In It For You</p> <p>We're committed to our employees and work hard to prove it. For starters, we're offering $49,123 to $75,895 base compensation for this role. Individual offers are based on skills, experience, and qualifications. We foster a culture of work-life balance and always encourage employees to use and enjoy their paid time off.</p> <p>What You Will Do</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the definition, improvement, monitoring, and overall management of the microbiological program, at large. This includes system mapping, program outline, reaction plan development, stoplight specs, action triggers, tiered response levels, etc. </li><li>Lead micro laboratory procedure implementation and ensure all necessary Policies and Procedures and SOPs are current and accurate </li><li>Accurately record observations, data and microbiology KPIs and interprets results for department stakeholders </li><li>Actively assist operations in determining appropriate procedures to prevent micro contamination and actively participate in or lead troubleshooting efforts for the brewery at large. </li><li>Maintain storage of samples and manage and maintain the brewery yeast library in accordance with established SOPs </li><li>Perform laboratory functions such as media preparation, sample preparation, plating samples, incubating plates, reading plates, and instrument set up, maintenance and verification. </li><li>Collect samples from production, both on the main campus and satellite areas, as necessary and perform a variety of enumerative or detective microbiological tests </li><li>Develop and execute department specific training and reporting to educate others on areas of exposure and risk, providing mitigation strategies </li></ul> <p>Please Apply if You Have</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree Science, Analytics, Microbiology or Food-Related Discipline required or any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved preferred </li><li>2 years Quality Assurance, GMPs, microbiological method development and validation preferred and </li><li>1 year Quality assurance or quality control in a production environment (brewery preferred) with an emphasis on microbiology preferred and </li><li>Experience with: Development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOP's), Independent work and teamwork, Industry specific microbiology methodology, HAACP, FSMA, cGMP, Continuous improvement, Design of Experiment (DOE) preferred </li><li>Able to successfully learn and perform the duties outlined above; must have strong attention to detail </li><li>Strong influencing skills; capable of leading without direct authority and delivering superior internal customer service </li><li>Skilled in management systems and communication, organized, and respectful at all times; prioritizes musts before wants </li><li>Scheduling flexibility to be available for any high-priority quality projects or issues (in person as appropriate or over the phone), including the ability to support any shift (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), when necessary </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements to Consider Before Applying</p> <p>You must be at least 21 years of age to work for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.;Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment, post offer background check.</p> <p>Before applying for this role, please review the full job description, including the physical demands and working environment: https://sierranevada.jdxpert.com/ShowJob.aspx?EntityID=2&id=3041</p> <p>This position will remain open until filled; online applications will be reviewed weekly</p> <p>Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
