They will co-teach and advise students from a first-year experience course, carry an additional advising caseload of exploring first year students, represent University College at admissions event tables and resource fairs, and support additional departmental functions (ie drop-in advising, Welcome Weekend).</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties (as assigned)</p> <p>The GA is responsible for working twenty (20) hours per week, including some evening and weekend commitments and other assigned duties</p> <ul> <li>In the fall semester, co-instruct a UC 1900 First Year Seminar Course </li><li>Advise University College students, including the maintenance of student graduation plans and My Ohio Success Network (Slate) </li><li>Advise students through University College's weekly drop-in advising sessions </li><li>Meet regularly with Advising & Student Services staff and direct supervisor(s) </li><li>Participate in University College meetings and other local opportunities for professional development </li><li>Represent University College Advising and Student Services Office at academic and Undergraduate Admissions events. </li><li>Invitation to collaborate on other unique projects and initiatives </li><li>Respond to students' emails and voice mails. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Experiences Gained</p> <ul> <li>Academic advising </li><li>Teaching </li><li>Presentations </li><li>Collaboration with campus partners </li><li>Become a member of a professional advising team </li></ul> <p>This GA position is part of the professional advising team serving our academic programs and are expected to perform tasks at a high caliber, while being supported in their growth and development as a new professional in our field. The Advising & Student Services Offices primarily practices appreciative advising.</p> <p>Please note this position is a Campus Security Authority which means that GAs are mandated reporters for any reports of sexual misconduct they receive.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree.</p> <p>Must be a graduate student applying/enrolled at the Ohio University Athens campus.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Graduate student in the Patton College of Education.</p> <p>Department University College, Dean's Office Pay Rate</p> <p>$13,500 (plus tuition waiver)</p> <p>Posting Open Date 04/28/2025 Posting End Date 08/01/2025 Job Category Student Hourly Planning Unit University College Work Schedule</p> <ul> <li>20 hours per week - scheduled as office hours.
