<p>Description</p> <ul> <li>Summary </li><li>This position exists for the physician to provide primary care for HealthNet newborn patients at Riley Hospital for Children utilizing appropriate and effective patient care plans, which are concisely documented, assuring continuity of care and patient education, while exercising appropriate cost-containment measures. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Direct Patient Care:</p> <ul> <li>• Conducts diagnostic procedures, therapies, consultations, referrals, education, screenings and preventive care. </li></ul> <p>Interpersonal Care:</p> <ul> <li>• Interacts appropriately with patients and staff. </li><li>Treats patients and staff in a friendly, courteous and respectful manner. </li><li>Actively listens to concerns in a caring and compassionate manner, responds to questions, and clearly explains diagnosis and treatment. </li></ul> <p>Patient Care Documentation:</p> <ul> <li>• Maintains adequate, concise, and legible documentation including baseline and interval physical exam records, preschool vision exam records, immunizations, problem records, medication records, drug allergies, subjective and objective data, assessment, and diagnostic procedures. </li><li>Completes progress notes in a timely fashion. Maintains patient confidentiality. </li><li>Apply a minimum of one health literacy method when communicating with patients/clients. </li></ul> <p>Hospital Care:</p> <ul> <li>• Conducts weekday patient rounds at Riley Hospital for Children, writing daily progress notes in hospital charts and taking telephone calls about hospital patients. </li><li>Collaborates daily with Newborn Scheduler who arranges for patient follow up appointments in health centers. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining inpatient and outpatient electronic medical records. </li><li>Provides remote coverage of all infants on census during evening hours. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Services:</p> <ul> <li>• Participates in Provider performance and annual reviews, and on any HealthNet quality initiatives. </li><li>Participates in peer review. </li><li>Arrives on time for meetings and clinic sessions, calling if more than fifteen minutes late for clinic sessions. </li><li>Returns telephone calls the same day or within one hour after hours, when assigned. </li><li>Utilizes appropriate infection control measures. </li></ul> <p>Community Services:</p> <ul> <li>• When requested, makes presentations in the community, attends local board meetings, and attends HealthNet Board meetings. </li><li>Participates in professional networking activities as required. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Purpose/Service:</p> <ul> <li>• Demonstrates a commitment to HealthNet's mission, vision and values and supports organizational decisions and behaviors. </li><li>Demonstrates efforts to discovering, meeting and advocating for patient and customer's needs. </li></ul> <p>HIPAA</p> <ul> <li>• Maintains at all times the confidentiality of any patient or employee medical, financial, or other personal information, records and data to which there is access. </li><li>Views, uses or discloses such information only for reasons necessary to perform duties. </li><li>Responsible to challenge unauthorized individuals from viewing such confidential patient or employee information or accessing restricted areas. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Diversity</p> <ul> <li>• Committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment, where all employees, whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability, feels valued and respected. </li><li>Committed to a nondiscriminatory approach and provides equal opportunity for employment and advancement in respective departments, programs, and worksites. </li><li>Respects and values diverse life experiences and heritages and ensures that all voices are valued and heard. </li><li>Committed to modeling diversity and inclusion and to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all. </li></ul> <p>The preceding essential function statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of tasks and functions for this position. Other tasks and functions may be assigned as needed to fulfill the mission of the organization.</p> <ul> <li>QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES </li><li>• Requires current Indiana M.D. licensure. </li><li>Requires Board certification or board eligibility. </li><li>Requires DEA certification. Requires CPR certification. </li><li>Requires completion of residency program. </li><li>Requires hospital medical staff membership. </li><li>Requires effective written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Requires a high level of interpersonal; problem solving, and analytical skills. </li><li>Travel may be required. </li><li>May be required to work in Health Center with specialized services (i.e. urgent care, COVID testing, employee health) </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirement:</p> <ul> <li>• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. </li><li>Able to be involved in degrees of prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, and stooping; as well as abilities of repeated bending, stooping, and squatting. </li><li>Able to lift, push, and/or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight up to 20-30 pounds is a necessary function of this position. </li><li>Able to perform duties during periods of varied and/or prolonged work hours. </li><li>Will be exposed to all patient elements. </li><li>Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in the English language by both orally and written. </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE</p> <ul> <li>The Physician Newborn Rounder will receive annual performance evaluations that rate job performance in accordance with HealthNet vision, mission, policies and procedures. The evaluations may include, but not be limited to, performance of many of the specific skills and abilities noted above.
