<p>About Matchbook Learning</p> <p>Matchbook Learning is a non-profit charter management organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We operate two schools: Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, and The Match High School and Career Center, which currently serves 9th grade students and will expand to include 9th and 10th grade students in the fall of 2025.</p> <p>Our mission is to personalize learning, within a restorative community, fostering resilience and excellence while preparing students for real-world opportunities. As an innovative and inclusive organization, we are committed to ensuring that every child is known, loved, and flourishing.</p> <p>We are currently seeking a School Social Worker to join our Elementary Team at Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63 for the 2025-2026 school year.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The School Social Worker is responsible for improving the academic performance, behavioral functioning, and overall well-being of at-risk students through direct counseling, targeted interventions, teacher collaboration, and home visits. This role also provides critical services for students requiring immediate crisis intervention and serves as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources.</p> <p>In addition to these core responsibilities, a strong School Social Worker will:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement individualized support plans for students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges </li><li>Conduct risk assessments and crisis response interventions when necessary </li><li>Coordinate referrals to external mental health services, child welfare agencies, and community supports </li><li>Facilitate small group sessions focused on social-emotional learning (SEL), conflict resolution, and coping strategies </li><li>Collaborate with the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) team to identify students in need of academic and behavioral support services </li><li>Assist in creating and implementing trauma-informed practices across the school </li><li>Participate in IEP meetings, providing social-emotional input for students with special education services </li><li>Provide professional development for staff on topics such as trauma, behavior management, and mandated reporting </li><li>Support family engagement efforts by connecting families to resources and facilitating family conferences when needed </li><li>Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FERPA) </li><li>Help develop school-wide initiatives promoting mental health, social wellness, and restorative practice </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree in social work. </li><li>Certification: Valid Indiana Student Services License and LCSW, or LSW (or ability to obtain) </li><li>Experience: Previous experience working with elementary or middle school students is strongly preferred. </li><li>Skills: </li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment. </li><li>Commitment to professional growth and development. </li><li>Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment. </li><li>Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor to work with students. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>At least two years teaching experience in an urban or low-income setting. </li><li>Demonstrated a record of success in supporting student growth and well-being in a school setting (experience as a school social worker preferred; internship or practicum experience considered) </li><li>Familiarity with current educational technology and digital learning tools. </li><li>Demonstrated an understanding of how to effectively analyze student data </li><li>English/Spanish bilingual </li></ul> <p>Application Process</p> <p>Interested candidates should submit their resume to https://www.matchbooklearning.com/careers.</p> <p>Matchbook Learning is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
