Diversity and inclusion are a key part of our strategy for long-term success.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>Seeking an individual that is responsible for daily greenhouse tasks to support all aspects of corn trait introgression projects. This role is critical to ensuring the cultivation of corn trait introgression projects and the success of our Trait Integration team. The ideal candidate will have passion for plants, attention to detail and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the daily care of greenhouse activities including planting, watering, leaf sampling, pollinating, embryo rescue, harvesting, and shelling </li><li>Monitor plant health and environmental conditions, reporting and collaborating with Greenhouse Manager for any abnormalities </li><li>Perform daily greenhouse cleaning and organizing to maintain plant integrity </li><li>Utilize safe work ethic and techniques following protocols </li><li>Support the greenhouse trials, including filling pots, plant labeling, media creation, and data collection </li><li>Assist in inventory management of supplies </li><li>Cross-functionally assist with Plant Pathology projects </li><li>Ability to gain Category 1 Pesticide Applicators License- Indiana </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in Horticulture, or related field (Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, etc.), required; bachelor's in plant sciences or closely related discipline (plant breeding, agronomy, horticulture, plant pathology) preferred. </li><li>Previous experience working in agriculture or greenhouse-focused research is a plus. </li><li>Ability to get Category 1 Pesticide Applicators Licenses-Indiana </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent organization skills and ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines and facility objectives. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn multiple computer software programs for data collection and data retrieval. </li><li>Excellent attention to detail. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Previous experience with plant tissue culture preferred, but not required </li><li>Willingness to work weekends and holidays </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Ability to travel up to 10% of the year. </li></ul>
