<p>Dates: April 28 - August 30, 2025 (approximately)</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Office of Family and Community Advancement (OFCA) at Boston Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analysis and Marketing Intern to join our team. This role will support OFCA's mission to foster stronger family and community engagement through data-driven strategies and impactful communication efforts.</p> <p>Working under the supervision of the Director of Data Analysis, Marketing, and Systems, the intern will assist in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to support internal strategy and external communications. The intern will also contribute to marketing and outreach efforts that amplify the voice and work of OFCA throughout the district and community.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Data Analysis & Visualization</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine data analysis using tools such as R-Studio, Excel, Looker Studio, and Power BI to support ongoing initiatives. </li><li>Build interactive, internal and external-facing dashboards in Google Looker Studio that track key metrics and promote transparency among stakeholders. </li><li>Identify trends and generate meaningful insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts. </li><li>Support the development of data visualizations and reports for various stakeholder groups including district leadership, families, and community partners. </li><li>Maintain and update high-level dashboards to reflect progress on OFCA's priority initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Marketing & Communications</p> <ul> <li>Draft and edit clear, engaging written communications for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, flyers, reports, and presentations. </li><li>Collaborate on the creation of innovative marketing strategies to better engage families, partners, and other stakeholders. </li><li>Assist in the coordination and execution of marketing campaigns and events. </li><li>Ensure all communications are aligned with OFCA's branding and messaging guidelines. </li><li>Participate in stakeholder meetings and presentations; share data findings clearly and effectively. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of statistical principles and data storytelling. </li><li>Proficiency in R-Studio, Google Looker Studio, Google Sheets/Excel, and ideally other data tools such as Tableau or Power BI. </li><li>Demonstrated experience creating dashboards and using data to support strategic planning or marketing efforts. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously. </li><li>High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality. </li><li>Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and ability to take initiative while also following direction. </li><li>Creative mindset with a passion for finding new ways to communicate and engage with audiences. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current undergraduate or graduate student in fields such as Data Science, Marketing, Business, Public Policy, Education, Communications, or related. </li><li>Previous experience in a public sector, education, or nonprofit setting. </li><li>Familiarity with Boston communities and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. </li><li>Open to candidates or independent contractors in any location </li></ul> <p>What You'll Gain</p> <ul> <li>Real-world experience applying data analysis and marketing strategies to meaningful, community-centered work. </li><li>Opportunities to present findings and contribute to decision-making processes at a district level. </li><li>Exposure to the inner workings of a large urban school system and its engagement strategies. </li><li>Development of technical, communication, and project management skills in a supportive and mission-driven team. </li></ul> <p>Compensation: Internship, ($25/hr at 20-hrs per week)</p> <p>The Boston Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record, physical or mental disability, pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics, natural or protective hairstyle, military status, immigration status, English language proficiency, or any other factor prohibited by law in its programs and activities.
