We will offer the vaccination at no cost via our Health Centers.</p> <p>JOB OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Position Type: Non-exempt; Hourly; Part-time</p> <p>Reports to: Program Director - PASHI</p> <p>Location: 1500 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102; Frequent travel required throughout Eastern PA</p> <p>Under the direction of the Philadelphia Area Sexual Health Initiative (PASHI) Project Coordinator, the Community Outreach Worker serves as a team member of the Adolescents and Young Adults Eliminating STD Stigma (AYAESS) Program. This position acts as a bridge between the LGBTQ+ community, Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), and other community service providers. The Community Outreach Worker is a trained and trusted professional who is respected by the people they serve, preferably of similar and/or lived experience, and applies their own unique understanding of the experience, socioeconomic needs, language, and/or culture of the communities they serve.</p> <p>This individual has an integral role in connecting the target population to community-based resources offered by community partners and organizations. They are knowledgeable about STDs, STIs, and HIV/AIDS as well as prevention and treatment interventions to reduce transmission risks. The Community Outreach Worker also manages social media campaigns as a tool for conducting outreach, engaging LGBTQ+ youth, and facilitating community events.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Work as part of a team to support and sustain community-led action around issues related to youth services and program goals. </li><li>Work as part of a team to organize and hold events that draw in and involve Black LGBTQ+ youth (ages 15-24) and partners. </li><li>Recruit and support local people to become volunteers and active leaders in their community and ensure that they remain engaged and involved. </li><li>Work as part of a team to design and deliver a range of innovative community outreach and engagement activities throughout the LGBTQ+ community. </li><li>Develop and sustain positive relationships with youth, community-based organizations, and partners. </li><li>Support face-to-face and online activities. </li><li>Support the delivery and analysis of community-based qualitative research. </li><li>Attend meetings and work as part of the PASHI team and PHMC. </li><li>Work in different environments (at the office, in the field, etc.) at times best suited to the community, including some evenings and weekends. </li><li>Maintain case notes and participant files as needed. Ensure adherence to all reporting requirements, as outlined by the funder and program, for every client interaction. </li><li>Work collaboratively with community partners, the Program Coordinator, and the AYAESS Community Advisory Board (CAB) to connect clients with needed services. </li><li>Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. </li></ul> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education: High school diploma or equivalent</p> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Extensive experience in community outreach and engagement, particularly with LGBTQ+ groups </li><li>Experience in facilitating creative and engaging community-based workshops and activities </li><li>Experience in recruiting and supporting volunteers from diverse backgrounds to take part in community-led projects </li><li>Experience in working with a variety of stakeholders including residents, local groups, and organizations across the voluntary and public sectors </li><li>Experience in organizing creative and successful events which engage and involve people from a range of different backgrounds </li></ul> <p>Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed </li><li>Willingness and ability to work in different environments (in the office, on the ground in the community, etc.) </li><li>Commitment to tackling inequality and putting people at the heart of social change, particularly in relation to harm and stigma reduction </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills (presentations, facilitation, relationship building, etc.) </li><li>Knowledge of effective social media outreach methods, including but not limited to the development and design of social media posts </li><li>Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe </li><li>Ability to manage a varied and challenging workload, both as part of a team and individually </li><li>Hardworking, reliable, and professional demeanor </li><li>Understanding of and commitment to the mission and vision of Public Health Management Corporation </li></ul> <p>PAY GRADE: 14</p> <p>PHMC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.</p> <p>EOE</p>
