<p>Assistant Principal JobID: 5670</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Assistant Principal</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>3/10/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Avon High School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>07/14/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>03/21/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>SALARY BENEFITS: $104,719 commensurate with experience</p> <p>Benefits: Eligible for administrative benefits package - medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life, TRF, 401a, 403b, Tech Stipend</p> <p>Leave Day Pay: 4 personal days, 12 sick days</p> <p>ASSIGNED WORK DAYS PER YEAR: 220 Days</p> <p>Primary Job Functions: Assist the Principal in administering and supervising the educational program in the school; shall serve in the place of the Principal in the event of the Principal's absence; and has direct authority over staff and students as delegated by the Principal.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Education and Certification: Must hold appropriate Indiana Administrative Licensure</p> </li><li> <p>Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to work with personnel in the instructional program and others as designated by the building Principal; capable of assuming responsibility as the need arises in administering a school; adaptable to change as needed to improve the instructional program; capable of budgeting time effectively and willing to work as needed to complete assigned duties; ability to reach logical conclusions and make high quality decisions based on available information; ability to recognize when a decision is required and to act quickly; ability to perform under pressure; reflect on and learn from experiences and receive feedback from others to grow personally and professionally; be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience: 3+ Years experience as a Secondary Administrator preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Additional Information: Round 1 interviews to begin the week of 4/7/25 with possible pre-screening prior to that.</p> </li></ol> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the development of school goals and objectives. </li><li>Collaborate with school leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instruction resulting in continuous school improvement. </li><li>Assist the Principal in developing, maintaining, and using information/data systems to track and assess indicators for continuous improvement. </li><li>Administer student discipline system and attendance procedures in a fair and equitable manner. Teach positive, appropriate, and desired behavior. </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers about issues and respond in a timely, professional manner to resolve expressed concerns. </li><li>Collaborate with school personnel, students' families, and community resources to promote student academic success as well as their physical, social, and mental health. Identify student needs and proactively develop interventions to support students. </li><li>Serve as the school level Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) coordinator to lead the school in DEI initiatives for students and staff to align with and create consistency across the district. (Note: level of responsibility depends upon specific assistant principal position) </li><li>Supervise, provide professional development, and assist with the hiring, training, and evaluation of high school guidance counselor(s) and non-certified staff within the department. </li><li>Observe and evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with district policies and procedures. Provide actionable feedback to reinforce teacher strengths, identify areas of growth, and recommend strategies for improvement. </li><li>Budget time effectively, yet be willing to work beyond regular work hours to complete assigned duties. </li><li>Establish and sustain relationships with the community (businesses, organizations, etc.) to support the school's mission and vision. </li><li>Assist the Principal in the development of budget priorities and the allocation of resources. </li><li>Supervise students during non-instructional times such as before/after school, during passing periods, and lunch periods. </li><li>Represent the building administrative team on school district committees. </li><li>Participate in professional growth opportunities and organizations to improve administrative and leadership skills. </li><li>Attend and supervise after-school, evening, and weekend school-sponsored events and activities as assigned. </li><li>Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Principal and the Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
