Make a difference.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Pharmacy Systems Coordinator, in cooperation with the IS and Pharmacy departments, is responsible for all aspects of the pharmacy information systems at Fairfield Medical Center. This includes implementation, maintenance, education, and support for platforms identified. This involves coordination of pharmacy related functionality within the integrated electronic health record, billing applications as applicable and independent pharmacy modules.</p> <p>The Pharmacy Systems Coordinator also provides pharmaceutical care to patients including monitoring, evaluation, and assurance of the quality of medication use, provision of drug information, distribution, and control of drugs and other patient services. Performs other duties as requested. Staffing duties expected to be 25% of total time worked but can vary based on departmental needs.</p> <p>Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines.</p> <p>Operational Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Manages the functionality and creates enhancements to maximize the operational effectiveness of the following platforms (platforms can be expanded or deduced dependent on growth of department): Automated dispensing cabinets, IV pump software, temperature sensor monitoring, Pharmacy IV workflow management software and 340B split billing software, when applicable. </li><li>Ensures regulatory standards are up to date related to Pharmacy informatics and data security </li><li>Works with appropriate pharmacy and hospital staff to ensure billing applications are current, including but not limited to medication NDCs, HCPCS codes, and assigned billing charges. </li><li>Work with hospital systems analysts to ensure pharmacy system is updated and is functioning properly. </li><li>Monitors IS functions and background tasks. </li><li>Ensures pharmacy information system policies and work instructions are current. </li><li>Provides timely reports to Pharmacy and hospital leadership regarding program function and operational efficiencies gained from platform enhancements </li><li>Oversees the duties and workflow of the Data Systems Coordinator </li></ul> <p>Clinical Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Reviews, interprets, processes, and validates and/or dispenses medication orders and prescriptions accurately. </li><li>Monitors and manages patient medication therapy to ensure therapeutic appropriateness and effectiveness of drug regimens, including appropriateness to the age of the individual patient. </li><li>Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, and records consistent with regulations and standards governing the practice of pharmacy. </li><li>Communicates drug information to patients, family, and other health care providers. </li><li>Participates in drug therapy management of medical emergencies by responding to emergency call, assisting in medication preparation and provision of drug information and assuring adequate medication supplies. </li><li>Coordinates the day-to-day pharmacy technician activities to meet the needs of the patient, organization and department. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science or Pharm D. degree from an American Colleges of Pharmacy Education required. Must have a valid Ohio Pharmacy License in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. </li><li>2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred </li><li>Information Technology experience in the hospital setting preferred </li></ul>
