<p>Career Services Specialist - Part-Time, Temporary</p> <p>Department: Career Center</p> <p>Location: Westshore Campus</p> <p>Reports To: Director, Student Learning and Development</p> <p>Recruitment Type: External/Internal</p> <p>Requisition ID: req5753</p> <p>Employment Type: Part-Time Support Staff</p> <p>Union Position: Non-Union</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, in-person, at Westshore Campus. The supervisor will work with the candidate of choice to determine a consistent weekly schedule distributing the 20 hours per week across 3 days within the 8:30 am -5 pm timeframe.</p> <p>Number of Openings: 1</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>SUMMARY STATEMENT</p> <p>Provides individual and group career development services to a diverse client group, with a focus on serving first-year students (having 30 credit hours or less.) Provides effective career development and assistance to diverse clientele, coordinates the co-op and internship program, and provides proactive employer and campus relations.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>May assist students and alumni with career and job readiness by conducting mock interviews, resume critiques, and provides job search and networking techniques</p> </li><li> <p>Develops content and conducts workshops and class informational sessions on a variety of topics to include career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, internships/job search strategies, networking tactics and ethics in the workplace</p> </li><li> <p>Designs and delivers comprehensive career development services leveraging the College's educational support systems and provides linkages to the post-secondary and College credentials, academic and technical training programs, academic counseling, workforce preparation, and adult literacy competency</p> </li><li> <p>Provides individual coaching to students to create customized, long-term career development plans, develop key competencies necessary to make informed decisions, and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals</p> </li><li> <p>Partners with the Career Placement Specialists and faculty to identify potential employers that may provide co-op, internship, and part-time employment opportunities for students</p> </li><li> <p>Supports student success and engagement efforts at the campus by involvement in enrollment activities, retention initiatives, and other campus events and co-sponsorship opportunities with campus divisions and counterparts</p> </li><li> <p>Builds and maintains effective relationships with faculty, and, upon their request, facilitates a Career Center overview of services and resources to academic program classes as a marketing and communications vehicle</p> </li><li> <p>Represents Tri-C Career Center to a wide variety of community organizations, professional associations, government agencies, non-profit entities, and partners in higher education that provides a professional presence supporting the College's marketing brand</p> </li><li> <p>Gathers and reports data for the Career Center regarding coaching appointments, classroom presentations, workshops and co-op/internships and placements</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in a related field</p> </li><li> <p>Significant related experience may substitute for education</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of one years of demonstrated experience in a diverse and progressively accountable role related to K-12 education, higher education, talent acquisition, staffing/placement, employee development, career coaching/consulting, and/or fields related to career development services</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations</p> </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Possess working knowledge of career services concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to proficiently use a variety of internet tools and social networking sites as an employment sourcing tool</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment
