<p>About the Role</p> <p>We're looking for a sharp, high-EQ operator to lead strategic planning and drive business-critical initiatives across Uber's rapidly growing Grocery & Retail organization across the US&C. As the Strategy & Planning Lead, you'll act as the quarterback of our planning process-turning complex challenges into actionable roadmaps, shaping growth priorities, and helping us allocate capital where it matters most.</p> <p>You'll partner directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams across Product, Ops, Finance, and Marketing to deliver bold yet grounded strategy, while also leading and developing a high-performing team of 3-4 strategists. This role requires not just analysis, but ownership, influence, and execution. This is a rare opportunity to shape one of Uber's most competitive and fast-evolving verticals. We encourage our employees to work from our office on additional days if they desire to do so.</em></p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Lead Strategic Planning: Own the annual and quarterly planning cycles for the Grocery & Retail business across US & Canada, identifying growth opportunities and aligning local execution with global priorities. </li><li>Drive Investment Strategy: Work with leadership to drive capital allocation decisions - how and where we invest across markets, GTM headcount, reliability levers, and merchant strategy. </li><li>Surface Strategic Insights: Conduct deep analysis of the competitive landscape, market trends, and internal performance data to influence strategic decisions and provide actionable insights. </li><li>Performance Tracking: Develop metrics and dashboards to track progress against goals, and lead regular performance reviews with leadership to ensure that the business is on track to achieve its objectives. </li><li>Activate Growth Initiatives: Drive strategic growth initiatives from 0-1, including growth and gtm strategy, business case development, and operational improvements. </li><li>Own Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate closely with Product, Ops, Finance, and Marketing to develop and implement initiatives that align with the overall strategy. </li><li>Mentor & Lead: Manage and guide a team of high-performing S&P associates, setting a high bar for structured problem-solving, strategic thinking, and a connective tissue from thought to impact. </li><li>Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership on the grocery and retail industry, sharing insights and recommendations with senior leaders across the organization. </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>6+ years of experience in strategy, business planning, and/or management consulting </li><li>Strong business acumen and financial literacy - comfortable leading strategic planning, and modeling tradeoffs/ROI. </li><li>Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving teams such as Product, Ops, Finance, and Marketing. </li><li>Demonstrated analytical skills, with experience in data analysis, financial modeling, and performance tracking. </li><li>Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complexity. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in grocery, 3P platforms, consumer goods, or retail strategy. </li><li>People management experience, or proven ability to mentor and influence peers. </li><li>Hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a strong ownership mindset. </li><li>Expertise in SQL </li><li>MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field </li></ul> <p>For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$140,000 per year - USD$155,000 per year.</p> <p>For Dallas, TX-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$140,000 per year - USD$155,000 per year.</p> <p>For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.</p> <p>For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.</p> <p>For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$155,000 per year - USD$172,000 per year.</p> <p>For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
