<p>SALARY RANGE: $27-35 hourly</p> <p>ABOUT US</p> <p>New York Edge is New York's leading provider of after-school programs. Our mission is to help bridge the academic performance gap among under-achieving students and in low income neighborhoods through wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve children's academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment.</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The part-time Girls L.E.A.D (Learning Empowerment through Athletic Development) Sports Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination & development of the Girls L.E.A.D program. They will collaborate with both the Sports Program Manager and Sports League Manager to deliver program outcomes.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Develop a variety of Girls L.E.A.D programming initiatives (clinics, workshops, partnerships, etc…) for NYE participants and staff. </li><li>Coordinate & communicate programming opportunities to NYE stakeholders. </li><li>Develop, create, research and promote relevant resources related to the Girls L.E.A.D program (i.e. curriculum, professional development). </li><li>Promote and market the Girls L.E.A.D program to increase awareness, participation, and impact. </li><li>Collaborate with the Leagues' team to increase opportunities for girls to participate in NYE Sports Leagues. This includes leading Girls L.E.A.D leagues on Saturdays in partnership with Sports League Coordinators. </li><li>Coordinate and/or purchase supplies needed for events. </li><li>Led and/or assist with in-person & virtual site support visits and professional development for Girls L.E.A.D programming across all NYE sites within the five boroughs. </li><li>Be liaison between New York Edge After-School Program Directors, Program Managers and the Sports & Wellness Department. </li><li>Assist in other department-wide Sports & Wellness events as needed. </li><li>Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Sports & Wellness and/or Sports Program Manager. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Passion for New York Edge mission and youth development. </li><li>Reliable, organized and punctual. </li><li>Knowledge of effective sports, health & fitness programming for female participants. </li><li>Strong leader and team-builder. </li><li>Ability to use a variety of computer based programs such as Google Suite, Adobe, Canva & LeagueApps. </li><li>Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions, while exhibiting strong character traits & exercise patience & creativity while seeking win-win scenarios. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff. </li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including remotely from home an in-person at our Woodside, Queens main office or at an event location. </li><li>Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals, applying tact and discretion as situations demand. </li><li>Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills. </li><li>Responsible and professional conduct that serves as a role model to staff and youth. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or Equivalent Required; Some college preferred. </li><li>1-3 years of work-related skill, knowledge & experience. </li><li>Event planning experience. </li><li>Preferred experience with NYCDOE or Public School System. </li><li>Strong communication skills (presentation and written), leadership abilities, flexibility and outstanding problem solving skills. </li><li>Must have the ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC. </li><li>Must be able to work 25-29 hrs/wk. </li><li>Must be able to work on Saturdays during league programming. </li></ul> <p>At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.</p> <p>New York Edge is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Disclaimer: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
