Their primary role is to ensure efficient patient flow through the office; to maintain neat, clean and safe patient care areas, and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs. This is the ideal position for candidates looking to gain skill with direct patient care, and who are looking to advance their careers (i.e. RN, PA, NP, MD).</p> <p>PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.</p> <p>Clinical Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Utilize two appropriate patient identification methods for each patient in compliance with regulations. </li><li>Review the daily schedule of patients and facilitate efficient patient flow including x-ray order entry, cast/bracing requisitions, etc. </li><li>Assist with patient intake process. </li><li>Perform vital signs assessment. </li><li>Implement wound care under direct supervision of provider. </li><li>Assist with preparing patient for procedures. </li><li>Perform selected procedures including suture/staple removal. </li><li>Issue and fit durable medical equipment if appropriate within clinic setting. </li><li>Obtain MRSA/MSSA swabs from identified pre-operative patients. </li><li>Maintain a clean, uncluttered atmosphere for patient care. Disinfect and prepare clinic rooms before and after each patient visit and conduct clinic in a hygienic manner in keeping with infection control guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Tasks</p> <ul> <li>Ensure appropriate stocking of all examination rooms with supplies, requisitions and all materials necessary for efficient patient care. </li><li>Assist with supporting special projects & departmental initiatives. </li><li>Coordinate practice activities with physician to ensure appropriate level and quality of services including maintaining supplies of medications and equipment. </li><li>Prepare patient records/charts and retrieve imaging in a proactive way so that all imaging and records are available prior to the start of each clinic day. </li><li>Prepare clinic ensuring appropriate tests are scheduled (i.e. x-ray) and data collection tools (i.e intake from) are in place to facilitate visit. </li><li>Schedule follow-up tests (i.e. MRI, CT, Ultrasound, etc…) as directed by provider </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Manager and/or providers </li></ul> <p>Quality and Patient Safety</p> <ul> <li>Report any actual or anticipated quality and safety concern via the hospital's safety reporting system and/or to supervisor. </li><li>Participate in all quality assurance activities of the practice with respect to patient care. </li><li>Recognize the patient is the center of all care and comply with all patient safety regulations to ensure the highest standard of care. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.</p> <p>Clinical Skills Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Patient vital sign assessment </li><li>Ability to use scale and measure patient height & weight </li><li>Ability to remove sutures/staples </li><li>Basic wound care knowledge </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Keeping current and knowledgeable with all MGB applications in use by the hiring practice which may include the following programs: </li></ul> <p>o Epic</p> <p>o Radiology Entry Order</p> <p>o Patient tracking</p> <ul> <li>Staying up to date with all application training and requirements as indicated by your Administrative Manager </li></ul> <p>Communication & Teamwork skills Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work as part of a collaborative healthcare team </li><li>Assists in mentoring new staff members as needed </li><li>Acting in a respectful manner toward patients & colleagues </li><li>Communicates effectively, verbally and in writing </li><li>Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills </li></ul> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates organizational skills and flexibility </li><li>Reviews in detail, agrees & complies to the Orthopedic Supplemental Personnel Policies </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
