We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Working with the assigned Division clinicians in the Department of Neurology (DON), the incumbent provides clinical care coordination for the Division and does medication prior authorizations. Requires ability to manage patient information confidentially and in compliance with all Hospital requirements. Must have the ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and tact and must have a good sense of urgency in order to prioritize the demands of a large and very busy clinical division.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. </li><li>A minimum of two years of applicable work experience is required. </li><li>Some additional training in office systems or other post-high school education is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of performing medication prior authorizations, practice operations, and standards. </li><li>Understanding of procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing. </li><li>Ability to use phone system (answer and screen calls, put on hold), handle more complex calls, and give more detailed information. </li><li>Ability to interpret information as appropriate, answer more complex questions in the most professional manner, and communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner. </li><li>Ability to manage work processes in a neat and orderly way and to sort and alphabetize. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, follow established protocols, and work within systems. </li><li>Ability to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively in writing (via e-mail, memo, or interoffice note) and to take complete and accurate messages. </li><li>May respond directly on behalf of manager/provider without direction or instruction. </li><li>Ability to type and enter data effectively and at a more advanced level. - </li><li>Intermediate level computer skills including the ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. </li><li>Intermediate understanding and use of medical terminology. </li><li>Intermediate comprehension of billing and fiscal information. </li><li>Knowledgeable and compliant with all hospital, State, and Federal requirements (where applicable to job performance), including policy and procedures with The Joint Commission and HIPAA. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Manages Epic in-basket messages and telephone calls, including setting up appointments and any tests for office and outpatient consultations. </li><li>Confirm patient appointments, reschedule appointments, and ensure the provider's schedules are filled. </li><li>Has a complete understanding of the appointment (EPIC). Must be able to schedule, cancel, bump, link, and reschedule appointments based on acuity, urgency, and evolving priority of patient and physician needs. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for each telephone message, determining the nature and urgency of the call, relaying the message to physicians or designate, and following through quickly, efficiently, and appropriately. </li><li>Positive interactions with patients are critical, as the individual in this position is not only representing the physicians but the department. </li><li>Must maintain and manage patient medical records. </li><li>Must review charts before patient appointments checking for test results or reports. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for obtaining diagnostic reports such as laboratory and radiology results as well as operative notes. </li><li>Follows up and obtains all missing and outstanding reports and assures timely disposition with full documentation. </li><li>Handles medication refills and medication prior authorization for patients. </li><li>Reviews various forms received, fills them, routes them to the right provider, and closes the loop on them. </li><li>Requires the ability to work as a team member in the Division. </li><li>Perform duties under moderate supervision with intermediate to advanced proficiency in administrative skills. </li><li>Provide cross-coverage as needed. </li><li>Assist with special projects as directed. </li><li>Follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality. - Other duties, as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>60 Fenwood Road</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
