As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in this department, you will help enhance this experience by providing patients with diagnostic imaging exams and ensuring they feel informed and educated throughout the entire process. In this role, you have the opportunity to make a lasting difference in your community while developing current and new skills.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li>Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages. </li><li>Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric, and vascular). </li><li>Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis. </li><li>Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam. </li><li>Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. </li><li>Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. </li><li>Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures. </li><li>Perform preliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided and determine priority of patients based on the daily schedules. </li><li>Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. </li><li>Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. </li><li>Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. </li><li>Process billing via RIS. </li><li>Ensure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions. </li><li>Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies. </li><li>Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of caregivers. </li><li>Assist with orienting new caregivers to the equipment, department procedures and scanning protocols. </li><li>Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for caregivers and visitors. </li><li>Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations. </li><li>Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography </li><li>Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) </li><li>Abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) and Vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with one year of hire </li><li>Two years of recent modality experience. </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
