This Art Teacher will inspire and nurture artistic development in students through expert instruction in accordance with system-wide goals and curriculum objectives. Our comprehensive art program emphasizes technical skill development, creative problem-solving, and personal expression across diverse media. The ideal candidate will create a studio environment that encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and artistic growth while teaching primarily Ceramics I & II, Jewelry I & II, and Fashion Design in the upcoming academic year.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Holds or is eligible for a New Jersey Instructional Certificate with the appropriate Art endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated expertise in art pedagogy with proven experience in art-making practices across multiple media.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching 3D art forms, particularly ceramics, jewelry design, and fashion/textile arts.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong technical proficiency with studio equipment including kilns, pottery wheels, jewelry fabrication tools, sewing machines, and digital fabrication technologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to design and implement engaging curriculum that balances technical skill development with creative expression.</p> </li><li> <p>Committed to creating an inclusive classroom culture that supports individual growth, student motivation, and a love of art-making.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in authentic assessment practices and able to provide constructive feedback that improves student work.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in using educational technology including Google Classroom and digital art-making tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of contemporary art practices and ability to connect student work to broader artistic contexts.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage studio resources and materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Energetic, student-focused, and collaborative educator with a passion for art education.</p> </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Curriculum & Instruction</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for Ceramics, Jewelry, and Fashion Design courses that align with district standards and contemporary art practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporate art history, contemporary artists, and cultural contexts into studio-based instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Guide students through the creative process from concept development to finished work.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate critique sessions that develop students' ability to analyze and discuss artwork.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee student Process Portfolios content, customization and maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Technical Expertise & Studio Management</p> </li><li> <p>Safely operate and maintain specialized equipment including kilns, potter's wheels, slab rollers, gas torches, casting equipment, and jewelry-making tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee glaze calculation, chemistry, and firing processes for ceramic works.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach proper techniques for repousse, stone setting, polishing, enameling, and etching.</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct students in fashion techniques using sewing machines, sergers, dress forms, and draping.</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate digital fabrication tools including 3D printing, laser cutting, and Adobe Illustrator.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage inventory, organize supplies, and maintain a safe, efficient studio environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement proper safety protocols and teach students responsible studio practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Program Development & Community Engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate student art exhibitions and displays throughout the school and community.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with other arts faculty to create cross-disciplinary learning opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Support students in developing portfolios for college applications and scholarship submissions.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in department meetings and curriculum development initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Engage with the broader art community through field trips, visiting artists, or community partnerships.</p> </li></ul> <p>Start Date: August 27,2025 plus 3 days NTO in August</p> <p>Working Conditions: 10 month, full-time, tenure track position, salary as per negotiated contract with benefits</p> <p>Selection Procedure: Interview and demonstration lesson</p> <p>Application Procedure: To apply for this position, please go to the JOB OPPORTUNITIES link to complete the application process.
