<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for overseeing the real estate division's customer service functions including supervising property tax analysts, providing property tax-related services, implementing procedures, and maintaining internal controls. Works to improve departmental work methods to enhance efficiencies. The position reports to the Manager -Real Estate.</p> <p>Agency Summary</p> <p>The purpose and mission of the Marion County Auditor's Office is to provide oversight, management, and processing of city and county financial transactions. These include, but are not limited to, property deductions, refunds, and settlement with the units of government, vendor invoices, revenue receipts, payroll, related tax withholdings, and all other applicable processing of revenues and expenditures of the city and county. We value diversity in perspectives and experiences among colleagues and the residents of this city of whom we serve.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supervises property tax analysts including assigning tasks; providing job-related training; monitoring and evaluating job performance; addressing personnel issues; and overseeing policies and procedures. </li><li>Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures, including State law requirements for property tax administration. </li><li>Establishing and maintaining relationships with departments, agencies, and new and existing vendors. </li><li>Ensuring deduction applications and other customer deliverables are processed in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to agency protocol and procedures. </li><li>Identify opportunities for quality improvement such as working with ISA to develop automated and online deduction platforms. </li><li>Audit staff work assignments to assure accuracy and timely completeness. </li><li>Oversees the completion of deduction and credit entry within the property tax management system (PVD.net). </li><li>Evaluate property tax management system and test system upgrades, provide testing evaluation reports, and help with system implementations. </li><li>This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Business Administration or Real Estate/Finance, or equivalent with two (2) years prior work-related experience in property tax management or other tax experience is required. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills. Knowledge of the Indiana property tax system, spreadsheets, databases, and other software is required. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Individual must be able to communicate effectively both in oral and written formats. Ability to supervise, prioritize, and evaluate the work of the real estate staff.</p> <p>Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelors' Degree in Government Affairs or similar curriculum with (5) years of experience in taxation or municipal services, two years of which have been in supervisory capacity.</p>
