<p>Position: Communications Manager, Internal (Hybrid Remote)</p> <p>The Communications Manager, Internal is responsible for developing and implementing VOA-GNY's internal communications and events strategy to foster employee engagement, promote alignment with our vision, and strengthen organizational culture and transparency.</p> <p>Location: New York, NY 10020</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in communications or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, employee engagement or related role with event planning responsibilities.</p> <p>Key Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Outstanding writing and editing skills and understanding of voice, nuance, and audience; experience communicating sensitive messages </li><li>Experience in event planning </li><li>The highest attention to detail. Highly motivated, proactive and adaptable with excellent problem-solving skills </li><li>Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks against tight deadlines </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating across departments and functional groups </li><li>Excellent ability to understand and simplify complex issues </li><li>High level of proficiency using all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook </li><li>Knowledge of Spanish is an asset. </li></ul> <p>All applicants must also submit at least 1 writing sample (i.e. blog post, article, press release) and 1 social media post (link or screenshot) that they produced; portfolios are encouraged.</p> <p>Communications Manager, Internal Principal Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement an internal communications plan that aligns with organizational priorities and complements the external communications plan. </li><li>Lead the creation and distribution of our regular employee newsletter, ensuring content is informative, engaging and reflects a diverse range of our work and employees. </li><li>Draft and edit all-staff communications from Executive Leadership (including the President & CEO) in the appropriate tone of voice; craft sensitive messages with care and consideration. </li><li>Plan, coordinate and manage logistics for regular town hall events and management meetings, including presentation materials. </li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute major staff events, including the annual staff picnic, Shared Values Awards and other employee engagement initiatives. </li><li>Maintain a calendar of program events and distribute to relevant departments to identify potential opportunities for donor or elected official engagement or media coverage. </li><li>Support employee recognition efforts by identifying exceptional staff from across the organization; interview and/or write stories as needed. </li><li>Track and report communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of internal communications; use this data to inform changes. </li><li>Provide communications support to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. </li><li>Ensure consistent messaging aligned with VOA-GNY's vision, values and brand identity across all internal communications. </li><li>Perform other related duties as requested. </li></ul> <p>Employees receive an exceptional benefits package including:</p> <ul> <li>Medical </li><li>Dental </li><li>Vision </li><li>Prescription coverage </li><li>Life insurance, </li><li>Retirement plan </li><li>Educational Reimbursement Program (includes tuition and license/certification) </li><li>Paid Time Off which is accrued monthly and rolls over from year to year.
