<p>Laboratory Supervisor</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Lab Supervisor will be involved in the daily operations and administration of a clinical lab specializing in Chemistry testing. This role is essential in overseeing department activities, ensuring adherence to laboratory standards, and leading a dedicated team of professionals.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Oversee activities of the department, distribute and assign work, determine priorities, and schedule non-routine procedures. </li><li>Perform supervisory functions for the assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling. </li><li>Perform advanced and specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques. May duplicate work of others to confirm test results, re-evaluate methodology, make recommended changes, and assist in test interpretation. </li><li>Determine if further testing should be done on samples or if tests should be repeated. </li><li>Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy. </li><li>Initiate quality-control measures and monitor the quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards. </li><li>Complete special projects as requested, including surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research. </li><li>Complete training and competency assessments according to established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements. </li><li>Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Laboratory skills in Chemistry and Clinical Laboratory Science. </li><li>MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) certification. </li><li>ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification. </li><li>Experience with Automated Chemistry and Special Chemistry. </li><li>Supervisory skills. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science, preferably Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science. </li><li>ASCP Certification - MLS or Chemistry C (ASCP). </li><li>4-6 years of Clinical Lab Experience in a high-complexity testing lab. </li><li>Experience in Clinical Chemistry lab (preferred). </li><li>1-2 years of Supervisory experience. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment is a clinical lab setting with increasing volumes, requiring a high level of activity and attention to detail.
