<p>Position Overview</p> <p>The College of Education (COE) at Butler University invites applications for a three-year, full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment in Education with an emphasis on educational technology and applied instructional design with a start date of August 18, 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to our COE curriculum that enrolls students from across four majors: Elementary Education, Middle/Secondary Education, Youth & Community Development, and Kinesiology. We seek a dynamic faculty member eager to lead initiatives related to educational technology with students, colleagues, and community-based partners and contribute to a continually evolving vision for technology integration and transformation within the COE. We welcome applicants from identity groups currently underrepresented in professional educator preparation within higher education institutions.</p> <p>This is an on-campus, in-person teaching position.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach 12 credit hours of courses during the fall and spring semesters. Courseload may include introductory education courses, educational technology integration courses, student teaching supervision, and courses in the University core curriculum. </li><li>Advise undergraduate students </li><li>Supervise students during field-based settings </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to design and reimagine courses and programming with a focus on careful integration of educational technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) </li><li>Contribute leadership and vision to the COE regarding the possibilities for technology integration into professional preparation programs, including collaborating on scholarly inquiry with students and colleagues </li><li>Ability to stay current with evolving technology skills for teaching and keep pace with the rapidly changing digital landscape </li><li>Provide service to the College, University, and professional communities </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an accredited university in Education, educational technology, instructional design, or closely related discipline by contract start date </li><li>Significant professional experience in the integration of technology into teaching and learning in academic settings (K-12 and/or higher education) in the United States </li><li>Demonstration of foundational knowledge and interest in emerging practices related to educational technology, instructional design, and learning theories </li><li>Experience with AI across learning contexts (e.g., K-12, higher education, community-based organizations, and training/professional development) </li><li>Experience in responsible and ethical technology practices in education, including bias mitigation, data privacy, transparency, and fairness to ensure trustworthy applications as well as ethical decision-making in diverse educational contexts </li><li>Proficiency in common instructional design and instructional technology tools </li><li>Knowledge of multimedia tools </li><li>Knowledge and experience to support learners from a variety of backgrounds with strong, student-centered instructional methods </li><li>Evidence of commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive technology practices, including familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and tools that support learners </li><li>Demonstrated skill in communication, collaboration, and fostering collegiality </li><li>Alignment with the COE Shared Commitments and the mission of Butler University. </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications</p> <p>While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design or a closely related discipline by contract start date </li><li>Experience as a K-12, community-based, or higher education instructor </li><li>Experience designing for and teaching in online or hybrid/blended </li><li>Experience with human-centered design and inquiry-based practices </li><li>Familiarity and engagement with Open Educational Resources and open pedagogy </li><li>Significant coursework and/or commensurate experience in the use of technology for teaching and learning </li><li>Familiarity with and ability to use and model relevant technology standards for educators </li></ul> <p>To apply, candidates must submit:</p> <ul> <li>A letter of application outlining qualifications and interest in the position </li><li>Curriculum vitae </li><li>Names, contact information, and roles of three professional references who can speak to the candidate's excellence as an educator </li></ul> <p>Screening of applicants will begin on May 5 and continue until the position is filled.
