Must provide own hand tools including pipe wrenches (up to 14"), allen, crescent, and open-end wrenches, assorted screwdrivers, files and chisels, hack saw, hammer, pump pliers, tube cutter and benzomatic torch, etc. A valid driver's license; the ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Plan, layout and install new and replacement steam and chilled water systems.</p> <p>Install boilers, thread or weld piping for heating, steam reduction stations, fire protection systems, etc.</p> <p>Maintain and repair existing systems.</p> <p>Inspect, install and repair a variety of pneumatic, electrical and combination valves (most electrical work done by others).</p> <p>Chemically treat water for all systems as instructed.</p> <p>Install steam and chilled water pipe insulation.</p> <p>Plan and perform preventive maintenance duties such as lubricating pumps.</p> <p>May be required to perform duties of HVAC Mechanic.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Standing 65% - 90% of the shift </li><li>Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend to below the knee (50 - 80%) </li><li>Frequent stooping and/or crouching (50% - 80% of shift) </li><li>Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso 75 - 95%) </li><li>Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, etc.) (50% - 95%) </li><li>Visual and cognitive capability sufficient to read and interpret diagrams and blueprints, troubleshoot and diagnose problems and make repairs </li><li>Able to perform mathematical computations as necessary to carry out assignments e.g. for installation of boilers, piping etc. </li><li>Wrist and finger dexterity and fine motor skills sufficient to use and use a variety of hand tools e.g. screwdrivers, files, wrenches, chisels, etc. </li><li>Able to handle and operate power tools </li><li>Repetitive arm movement (e.g. hammering) </li><li>May need to work on a ladder, scaffolds, or at other elevated heights </li><li>Able to perform all physical functions needed to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions </li><li>Able to climb up into and down from truck cab </li><li>Able to work in conditions of extreme heat </li><li>Able to lift up to 50 pounds </li><li>Push/pull up to 75 lbs. </li><li>May be exposed to flames, smoke, strong odors, dust, chlorine and other chemicals </li></ul> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Install a variety of piping including schedule #40 and schedule #80 black pipe, type 'L' and hard copper pipe, plastic tubing, etc.</p> <p>Use a variety of caustic and non-caustic chemicals for water treatment and cleaning.</p> <p>Operate a pipe threader, welding equipment, and a variety of hand tools.</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>.</p>
