Ranked 35 among national universities, Boston College has 888 full-time and 1,281 FTE faculty, 2,711 non-faculty employees, an operating budget of $1.4 billion, and an endowment in excess of $3.5 billion.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Institutional Research Analyst (Sr.) position is part of the Institutional Research team in the office of Institutional Research & Planning (IR&P). IR&P provides data-informed intelligence and integrated planning services to advance the Boston College mission. We apply varied professional skills and expertise with an institutional perspective to support University initiatives, strategic projects, and external reporting.</p> <p>Within IR&P, Institutional Research serves as the official clearinghouse for information about Boston College and its constituents. IR coordinates external reporting, administers national and institutional surveys, and collects, interprets, and analyzes data.</p> <p>The Institutional Research Analyst (Sr.) will lead various department activities to support data-informed decision-making. These may range from the production of several key reports to quantitative and qualitative research projects designed to support strategic planning and institutional effectiveness. This position will have a broad understanding of higher education issues and of the role research plays in supporting University leadership. The Research Analyst will contribute to providing timely, accurate information to University stakeholders by collaborating closely with university-wide partners and with IR&P team members. The position may involve supervising and managing the project work of student employee(s).</p> <p>Specific duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Plans and conducts institutional, departmental, and individual research projects related to operational excellence and strategic planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Designs, distributes, and analyzes university-level surveys and provides timely and constructive feedback to academic and administrative units.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports the survey and statistical analysis needs of administrative and academic units and programs, which may include activities such as: collaborating on survey design and measurement strategies; assistance in analyzing and interpreting survey results; facilitating focus groups and workshops; and preparation and dissemination of related reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Gathers, analyzes, and interprets institutional data, producing reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Identifies and evaluates data requirements based on the needs of end users for reporting and analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts and collaborates with on-campus partners for various projects and data requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages projects and logistics, facilitates meetings, and analyzes effectiveness and recommends improvements/enhancements as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Interacts with and develops professional relationships with divisional/school constituencies, staff, and department/project teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Represents IR&P on various university-wide committees and projects, and in local, regional, and national affiliations.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties and responsibilities requested</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree required.</p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree or higher in a social science or education-related field with coursework in statistics, data science, and research methods preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience and skill gathering, editing, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data, and significant experience managing and working with large, complex data sets.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong critical thinking skills, including demonstrated ability to approach problems objectively, draw conclusions, and develop recommendations.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate technical information in oral, written, and graphic form to individuals with varying backgrounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently and advance several projects of varying scope at the same time within basic guidelines and parameters and with minimal supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to understand and work on complex tasks or projects independently and as part of a team.</p> </li><li> <p>Customer-service orientation; collaborative interpersonal skills; ability to get along with widely diverse personalities.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational skills, diligent concern for accuracy and attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines, prioritize and follow through on projects, and adapt to changing situations, demands, priorities, and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced skill using SPSS for data analysis; some knowledge or experience using various relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Access), business intelligence tools (e.g., Cognos), R, and Tableau. Knowledge or experience in Adobe InDesign, or Adobe Illustrator is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent capabilities with software applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint to interpret and present information.</p> </li></ul> <p>Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:</p> <p>Sr. Institutional Research Analyst requires: 5+ years of progressively responsible professional experience at an institution of higher education, preferably in an institutional research and/or assessment capacity.Salary range: $74,000 - $92,500</p> <p>Institutional Research Analyst requires: 1-5 years of -5 years of progressively responsible professional experience at an institution of higher education, preferably in an institutional research and/or assessment capacity.
